I was taught, “If you can’t find anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.” That being said, I think what Clairee Belcher, the character played by Olympia Dukakis in the movie Steel Magnolias, had to say is much more appropriate now: “Well, you know what they say: if you don’t have anything nice to say about anybody, come sit by me!”

My point is – I was one of the winners of the Bio Oil giveaway and the truth is I wasn’t that crazy about it.  I was really looking forward to experiencing the purported benefits, especially since I had just read about the wonders of olive oil and sesame oil for the face.  Much to my dismay, Bio Oil contains mineral oil. There was no way it would make it onto my facial skin!

Undaunted, I decided to put it to work on my scraggly cuticles.  Immediately after application, I was in love.  The rough, dry skin looked smooth and hydrated – just what I was looking for.  It was, however, a very short-lived love affair as the results only lasted about thirty minutes. Then it was back to the old, scruffy cuticles.

I continued to use the oil on my hands and nails for several days.  The smooth and silky feeling was very nice, but again, after the initial half hour, I found myself reaching for my richer and more long-lasting hand cream.  I can’t really attest to any long-term benefits because I have only used it from time to time. However, I have found that I like the oil much better when used on my legs and feet.

Even though I am not enamored with the product, I like its light scent and the way it sinks into the skin fairly easily and quickly. I will definitely continue to use it on occasion and enjoy it. But I probably will not buy a bottle when I finish this one.

According to the other reader review, I thought this product was meant for ” multitasking assistance with: Scars, stretch marks, uneven skin tone, aging skin, dehydrated skin. ” Perhaps that’s why it didn’t work well with your cuticles? I’m confused, so is this product body oil meant to be used like lotion, or is it like a cuticle oil? I’m looking more for something to fade scars such as bug bites, bruises, discoloration or tiny dots/tan marks on skin.

I’ve had good results with 100% pure aloe vera at fading scars.

Thank you Marta! Can we purchase 100% pure aloe vera at Target or Walmart, or is this something we have to purchase online?
