I am not sure whether Mr Aubrey intended his Rosa Mosqueta Moisturizing Cream ($13.49) to be a face or a body cream. Probably, he is agnostic. I find this moisturizer much too rich for my face, even though my skin is a little dry right now. However, my body really likes it and especially dry areas, such as the elbows, just soak it right up. This joins Aubrey’s shampoos, hair conditioners and even the shave cream as great examples of good ingredients (although not all of them are actually organic) at an even better price.
I would guess that one reason why Aubrey’s products are inexpensive is because they all seem to leverage the same basic ingredients. This Moisturizing Cream’s ingredients list looks a lot like the first half of the list for the Rosa Mosqueta hair conditioner. Read more...

I wish I could remember which inspired member of the Truth In Aging community gave me the idea to use Baby Quasar, the at-home LED device, with Osmosis Replenish, a powerful antioxidant serum. You know who you are, so stepped forward and be thanked. It turned out the be an excellent suggestion and one of the best treatments I have found yet for the hands.
I have been giving myself regular Baby Quasar sessions for at least a year and the backs of my hands have benefited by looking a little smoother and plumper. Then I recently started to use Baby Q with Osmotics new Lipofill serum for labial nasal lines (marionette or puppet lines) and found that they worked much better together than alone. Logically, Osmosis and Replenish would play nice together too. Read more...

Opening the package of MiEssence Ambrosia Essence ($82) was at least reassuring on how well that product is packed. Starting by the wax protector over the pump – a nice feature, rarely seen, showing the quality and care they devote to their product.
The touch feeling is of a very fine thin oil, a mix of herbs and oils…Inside the box is a paper listing all the ingredients, among them: tamanu nut oil, rosehip seed oil, neroil flower oil, etc – pretty much all organic.
I started using it at night, just a couple of little drops on my finger would go a long way (especially nice because the product contains only 0.5 oz). I used it on my whole neck and decollete and even right after only one night my skin (and I live in the dry Colorado! even though I was born in warm humid Brasil ) was pumped and humidified all day. So I liked it right there! Read more...

I am determined to treat my body with the care and attention that I have, in the last few years, been giving to my face. The mission is a little harder since really good bodycare products are only just coming on to the market. So I was very excited when the Italian company, Dermophisiologique, gave me several body lotions and anti-cellulite treatments to try out. I honed in on the Xomega body cream ($80) and after using it for the past week, I am very glad that I did.
The first thing to love is the texture. It is really silky, thick enough to imply that it is going to be deeply moisturizing and absorbs quickly. This is not one of those body lotions that you apply and then wonder how you are going to kill time before you can get dressed or risk getting grease-stained clothes. With Xomega you are immediately good to go. I was also pleased to find out that this body lotion is so well-behaved that it can even be used right after shaving (legs, that is). Read more...

Body scrubs are winter essentials and I have just found a new one that is worthy of inclusion in my patent-pending winter legs treatment program: Trillium Organics Body Polish ($15.99). After using this, I emerge from the shower with zingy (I chose the Fresh Lime) soft skin. As with the fabulous Malie scrubber, there is no need moisturize afterwards. However, I think that Trillium may do an even better job of exfoliating.
It is having a great effect on my decollete, which as you’ll know from the latest Marta This Month is my latest obsession and it is a boon for dry winter legs.
It is surprising that such a simple list of ingredients; basically salt, oil and a dash of citrus. Trillium has used crystalline salt, which hasn’t yet been refined to become sodium chloride and it is an antiseptic as well as exfoliator. Read more...
