Your Best Face Correct is definitely my desert island eye cream (thanks Junko for the analogy) and, at long last, we have a limited number in the Truth In Aging shop. And that’s not all, they come with a 6.5ml trial size of Your Best’s Face Boost. But hurry, rush, trample others shamelessly out of the way… because the first ten will be shipped your bottle of Correct with Golden Coupon for $120 that you can redeem for your choice of either a full size Restore or Defend.

For me, Correct has an undeniable effect on crepiness, fine lines and even crow’s feet. I gave a friend a tester size Correct and she swears it is the only thing that has ever got rid of the dark circles under her eyes. This could be due Haloxyl, a peptide formulation that also includes chrysin and hydroxysuccinimide. The two color degradation elements in hemaglobin are bilrubin and iron. Chrysin, from passionflower, stimulates the enzyme that clears out bilrubin while hydroxysuccinimide makes the iron soluble so that it can be eliminated.

I don’t think of Neutrogena as a company at the technological frontier of cosmetics. Truth be told, I don’t think of Neutrogena much at all. This month, however, the drugstore giant caught my attention with the newly launched Neutrogena Clinical range that uses bioelectricity to spark (pun intended) “targeted cell-to-cell communication”. Now what on earth could that mean?

The Neutrogena blurb doesn’t shed much light on the matter. The company has invented something called Cytomimic technology, designed to mimic the body’s electrical signals. This Cytomimic thing turns out to be mineral particles, specifically copper or zinc and Neutrogena calls them ‘miniaturized batteries’. It all sounded a bit far-fetched to me, but I had to take note that Neutrogena recently went to the annual meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology to present its research.

There are so many eyelash and brow growth products on the market that they are beginning to merge together. In some cases, quite literally: Cilea and Nutra-Lift Lash Renue are identical. Now Fusion Beauty’s StimuLashFusion Intensive Night Conditioning Lash Enhancer ($89) has arrived and it took me an hour or so, but eventually I discovered that it is more or less the same as Skin Blends Lashes LTD.

Actually, it is – apart from a teensy reordering at the end of the ingredients list – the same thing and will be added to our list of product twins (identical formulas marketed by different brands and with widely differing price points). And, it turns out to be my first product triplet. Yep, it is also identical to NutraLuxe Lash ($79). In this case, you will save yourself nearly $20 by buying LTD rather than StimuLashFusion. Personally, I don’t care for any of them since the active ingredient is a prostaglandin, methylamido dihydro noralfaprostal, derivative with potentially unpleasant side effects.

Reviva has turned out to be one of those reliable, reasonably priced brands that deliver department store and even spa experiences for the thrifty, but demanding (that would be us). Not only have we reviewed and recommended a clutch of Reviva’s products, but many of them are still in use in my bathroom. Take the Collagen Eye Pads.

This kit, which costs $37.69 at the TIA shop, comes with a 2oz bottle of Skin Energizing Gel that is applied around the eye area before positioning pre-soaked pads. The gel has ahnfeltia concinna extract, which has peptides that are thought to trigger a signal to the epidermal and dermal cells that a substantial breakdown of collagen has occurred. Just the thing before adding some replacement collagen. Enter the pads, which are applied over the gel, under the eye and up to the crow’s feet area. In addition to collagen, there is Myoxinol in the pads. Brilliant to perk you up before a night out and a must for the morning after the night before.

I recently received Tarte’s MultiplEYE primer ($22) and mascara ($24) as a gift and have been trying it out for a few weeks now. Both are actually part of a three-piece set, which includes the Natural Lash Enhancer ($65), that claims to increase the length of lashes by 152% within six weeks, and over 1102% when used with the mascara — wow, lashes you can trip over.

So, although the Lash Enhancer is an integral part of the 3 steps to stimulate lash length, I was fine with testing this without it since I was just looking for another mascara under the Tarte brand — like Copley, their Light, Camera, Lashes! is one of my favorites. Plus, since the whole MultiplEYE set costs a total of $111, it may be worth figuring out what you can pick and choose.
