Recently my tastes have been running on the expensive side (I am more than a little spoiled by the amazing, but pricey E’shee Serum Cellular Repair) and as most of you know my favorite eye cream, Correct by YBF, comes in at $150. Knowing I should reign myself in before winding up (again) in retail rehab, I am trying out the cost conscious Reviva Labs’ Firming Eye Serum ($19 in the TIA shop).

Rather like Nutra-Lift, Reviva Labs is impressive for using high quality ingredients whilst keeping prices keen. Case in point: the Perricone rivaling Alpha Lipoic Acid DMAE cream at $23 in the TIA shop. The Firming Eye Serum is a relatively new addition to the cost conscious line up and it has a refreshingly short list of ingredients that includes the cosmetic industry’s new botanical darling, mulberry extract, an antioxidant and skin brightener.

KaplanMD’s Perfecting Serum has become a regular component of my skincare routine and my skin is looking really good these days. I also use and really like the company’s eye cream. This is a high end range, but I wanted to give you the opportunity of trying them out. So for one week until the 25th of June, you get 25% off in the TIA store if you buy both: Down from $238 to $178.50!

The eye cream is a gentle, but effective lid lifter, keeps crepiness at bay and is an excellent depuffer.  A key ingredient in this eye cream is MDI Complex. In the ingredients this is listed as glycosaminoglycans. Its primary role is to maintain and support collagen, elastin and turgidity (bounce) in the cellular spaces and keep protein fibers in balance and proportion. It also promotes the ability of the collagen and elastin fibers to retain moisture, therefore remaining soluble (Source).

After a brutal May (economy-wise), it seemed time to put together a roundup of some of the best good buys that we’ve found. By which I mean, products that punch above their weight. They have top notch ingredients without compromise and they do their job. Perhaps an eye cream around the $30 mark isn’t going to work as well as YBF’s $150 Correct, but you’ll see some results and get great value for money with Nutra-Lift Maximum Eye Repair ($31 in the TIA shop) or Dermaradiant’s Ageless Eyes ($29 in the TIA shop). Talking of YBF, an affordable and ingenious way to get to know the brand is with YBF’s Concentrate ($45 in the TIA shop and until next week we are making it even more affordable with a 15% off coupon: CONCENTRATE15.

Your Best Face Correct is definitely my desert island eye cream (thanks Junko for the analogy) and, at long last, we have a limited number in the Truth In Aging shop. And that’s not all, they come with a 6.5ml trial size of Your Best’s Face Boost. But hurry, rush, trample others shamelessly out of the way… because the first ten will be shipped your bottle of Correct with a Golden Coupon for $120 that you can redeem for your choice of either a full size Restore or Defend.

For me, Correct has an undeniable effect on crepiness, fine lines and even crow’s feet. I gave a friend a tester size Correct and she swears it is the only thing that has ever got rid of the dark circles under her eyes. This could be due Haloxyl, a peptide formulation that also includes chrysin and hydroxysuccinimide. The two color degradation elements in hemaglobin are bilrubin and iron. Chrysin, from passionflower, stimulates the enzyme that clears out bilrubin while hydroxysuccinimide makes the iron soluble so that it can be eliminated.

I was switched on to Reviva Labs by Copley and I was so impressed by the value for money of its Alpha Lipoic Acid Vitamin C Ester & DMAE Night Cream, which she billed as a low-cost (its $13!!!) alternative to Dr Perricone that I recommended it in an up coming interview for Woman’s Weekly magazine. So I was excited when Reviva got in touch to send some samples of brand new products, including the Collagen-Fibre Eye Pad Kit.

At around $38 in the TIA shop for a kit (with the need to buy more pads down the line), this isn’t quite a bargain basement find. But as Copley figured when she brought up Dr Perricone, it depends what you compare it to. Part of my monthly facial with Ildi Pekar includes the positioning of collagen-filled pads under my eyes. So, if you compare it to a salon treatment, it could be a great buy. Assuming it works.
