When I hear “serum”, I think runny…slimy…sticky. I think of an oftentimes unpleasant base layer in my beauty regime which typically neither moisturizes nor provides SPF protection. And I think of suffering short-term discomfort for long-term benefits. Perhaps I’ve been hanging with the wrong serum crowd, because I was just introduced to a new product by Wilava that fits none of these descriptions. Wilava’s Vitamin C Serum is somehow airy, agreeable, and satisfying all at the same time. Instead of filling in as an added step, this serum stands on its own while thoroughly moisturizing, protecting, and improving the look and feel of skin.

I have been using Olive’s Organic Botanicals Pomegranate Facial Replenisher Cleanser (available at the TIA store for $57.49)for the last month and I love it! The cleanser is housed in an old fashioned amber apothecary bottle with a dropper to dispense. The smell of the product is innocuous but hints of an oil of some sort are evident.

The ingredients of the cleanser are: organic saponified olive oil, organic coconut oil, organic jojoba oil, organic aloe vera, organic rosemary extract, and 100% pure, organic cold pressed/unrefined oil from certified organic pomegranate seeds. I like this wash because my face feels and looks “really” clean after I use it.

The instructions on the charming bottle read that you should first massage a small amount of product all over. I used it on my face, neck, and chest, then allowed it to sit for one minute. I then lathered, washed with warm water, and rinsed the creamy solution away.

I have recommended April Rain to several of my friends who want a really good antiaging moisturizer as opposed to a serum and they have always come back to say how much they love it. In fact, my own post of April Rain Night Rainew has been stolen by my husband and he refuses to return it (this is highly unusual as he has barely any interest in grooming products of any kind). We’ve been in discussion with the folks at April Rain to get a good deal for our readers and here it is.

Newsletter readers got first dibs, but now everyone can get a good night’s sleep and get skin that’s as fresh as a daisy after an April shower with this triumvirate of April Rain Night Rainew, April Rain Day Rainew and the company’s signature eye mask. All of this would normally set you back for $273.99 but you can snap it up for $168.99 at the TIA store. This offer ends on Wednesday 2/10.

January was a month of bad complexion karma. Whether due to incompatible products or inclement indoor conditions, my skin let me know that it was not happy. Scaly patches below my mouth battled with relentless flakes on my nose for the title of driest place on my face. My standard daily and nightly moisturizers were no longer cutting it. Using lightweight lotions could not conceal swathes of flaking skin, while layering various creams resulted in gunky residue that made applying makeup impossible. Once Punxsutawney Phil the groundhog saw his shadow- thus forecasting another six weeks of winter- my dry skin plight became more desperate than ever.

You know how some animals molt and grow thicker coats in preparation for cold weather? My skin goes through a similar transformative process when winter rolls around. But, unlike the furry creatures of the wild, my winter coat is not a biological adaptation to ensure survival. My skin’s permanent state of shedding, flaking, and itching is a barefaced rebellion against the elements. When a creamy cleanser and two layers of thick moisturizer were no longer cutting it, I knew that it was time for more drastic measures. Returning moisture and life to my winter coat would prove to be no easy task, but a couple of face masks from Teava- “Rejuvenate” and “Rehydrate”- were up for the challenge.
