I discovered Skin Biology’s Folligen Cream for stimulating hair growth almost two years ago and it remains one of my better finds. It is great for restoring hairlines and helping eyelashes and brows grow. At the bargain price of just under $18, it is hardly surprising that it is the runaway bestseller in the Truth In Aging shop. Not long ago, Skin Biology brought out a new product duo called Hair Signals and I have just bought myself the Hair Signals Therapy Cream for $23.95.
Hair Signals has the same copper peptides active as Folligen, with a proven track record for growing hair (not to mention healing wounds). But it also has some other ingredients that appear to rally behind the copper peptides to tackle thinning, aging hair. Read more...

I have been seeing double recently. So have some of our readers – especially the eagle-eyed Kim and Joan. We have been finding products with exactly the same formulas made by completely different companies. Often the only thing that is different is the price and that can be vary by as much as 100% or even 300%. I got the double vision thing only the other day when I started to test the new Nutra-Lift Lash Renue ($49 at the TIA shop) and began to think there was something very familiar about it. Sure enough, it was a nearly identical twin of Cilea ($69.99). Read more...

I have been using Kerastase Age Premium products (Bain Substantif $34, and Masque Substantif, $63.99) exclusively for about 2 months now. I love them! My hair is very full and healthy looking after both the shampoo and the masque. They leave my hair soft and shiny.
The best part of both of these products is that my normally very itchy scalp has not itched at all since I started using the Kerastase Age Premium. I have tried tons of shampoos and conditioners, and the very next day after I shampoo my hair, my scalp will be so itchy. This has not been the case with the Age Premium.
The only con I have is that the masque tends to be a bit heavy and no matter how little of it I use, I have to wash my hair more frequently, as this seems to make my hair oily on the 2nd day after shampooing, where I normally can go 2-3 days in between a shampoo. Read more...
It all happened so suddenly. For months since my last hair cut, I let my long blonde hair (formerly one of my best features) hang free, proud of its effortless shine and volume. Then one day a trend emerged: I had taken to hiding my hair under hats and headbands without fully realizing why. My once bouncy, worry-free strands had transformed into limp, lifeless strings. Even though my hair looked perfectly normal right after a shower and blow dry – BAM! – a grease bomb would drop out of nowhere and drown my crown under an oil spill by lunchtime. No matter how many times I shampooed (in one count, three times within a 24-hour period), I kept encountering the same oily streaks. Despite looking and feeling clean elsewhere, I felt ashamed that people might perceive me as dirty. Read more...

I was lucky enought to be chosen to test out Infuse Hair Strenghtener and Thickener by Dr Sears. I have ben very frustrated by my red curly dry hair lately. It just does not seem as thick and full as it once was. Plus I have those little baby hairs along my scalp line that to me look like broken off hair that want to stick up. My hair is so dry I do not need to wash daily. Strangely enough my left side is curlier than the right side now. Oh the joys of aging. So I was very happy to try this.
Granted I have tried so much stuff lately! Really you should see under my bathroom sink! Nothing satisfies me. So it was with excitement and trepidation that I begin using Infuse. I was worried that it would smell and be oily. Not so. There is barely any detectable scent and the formula is feather light. I do not even feel it on my hair ad scalp at all. Which to me is a blessing I hate feeling product on my hair. Read more...
