Revitalash, the wildly popular eyelash growth product, has launched Revitalash Mascara ($24). It is supposed to use a proprietary clump-free formula, but I must say there isn’t anything that stands out about this mascara. The ingredients are mostly standard for a mascara with some botanicals thrown in. Don’t confuse this with an eyelash growth product: there is no hair growth active here.
Revitalash uses a glaucoma drug called prostaglandin in its eyelash and hair growth products that is extremely effective, although there can be side effects such as irritation or even change of eye color. There is nothing like this in the mascara although, arguably, Revitalash added biotin to assist eyelash growth. Not one scientific study has yet to prove biotin achieves this and topical application of is most likely ineffective considering it cannot penetrate the skin. At best it makes hair more pliable.
I am dubious about the contribution of the plant extracts. True, calendula (marigold) is an anti-inflammatory, tea is an antioxidant and rosemary is associated with stimulating hair growth, but I haven’t yet found any research to back that up,
There are few things in Revitalash Mascara that I wouldn’t be keen on putting near my eyes. Propylene glycol is an irritant and also enhances the ability of other ingredients to penetrate the skin. The preservative, phenoxyethanol is also an irritant as are parabens when in combination (there are five here).

Will you be reviewing this mascara?
Yes we should – with something like this the only way to judge it is to try it.
Hi Marta, i’m using this mascara with the Revitalash conditioner and it is amazing. i didn’t experienced any irritation at all. must be with genetics or what have you. but my lashes are great. any updates on your review?
Hi Megan, Laura is testing the mascara right now and will post her review in a couple of weeks.
I have been using Revitalash for a very long time now and LOVE my lashes… So, I starting using the mascara. I really like it, but I also have great lashes. All I need is separation and that’s exactly what it does!
