I am, unluckily, one of the many adults in this world who still suffers from breakouts. While my acne issues are generally minor, because of my pale skin, I find that I am left with discoloration on my skin even after my blemishes have healed. Because of this unfortunate affliction, I jumped at the chance to try out iQ Derma’s Clear Remedy Acne Treatment Lotion ($65).
To be completely honest, when I opened the package, I was somewhat disgusted. The first strange thing that caught my eye was that the small, frosted glass bottle was noticeably oily, presumably from the product within. The concoction itself reminded me of the scene outside the liposuction clinic in Fight Club - the formula was a yellow, semi-viscous substance with an unpleasant odor, which made me understandably reluctant to slather the stuff on my face. However, after I did, I found myself pleased with some of the results.
After three days using this product twice a day, I found that my pores appeared smaller and that the small blemishes on my forehead had cleared up. While I was happy with these improvements to my skin, I was less than thrilled with the dry patches the use of this product caused on my cheeks and chin. In addition, I found that my skin appeared redder than it had prior to me using this product.
Although this formula does do a number on minor breakouts, it contains a number of troublesome ingredients, including acne-fighting staple salicylic acid, which has been described by the Material Safety Data Sheet as “harmful by inhalation, ingestion and through skin absorption.” (Although it must be noted that this refers to 100% concentrations). Other less-than-perfect ingredients in iQ Derma’s formula are phenoxyethanol, a preservative that has been the subject of an FDA warning, and cyclopentasiloxane, a common cosmetics ingredient that may be damaging to the environment.
All in all, iQ Derma’s Clear Remedy may clear up mild breakouts, but with all its scary ingredients and its whopping $65 price tag, this solution is no quick fix.

Good grief, $65 for an over glorified bottle of salicylic acid? You could get the same treatment for far less by crushing up some aspirin and mixing it with water. It wouldn’t even dry up your skin as bad.
Acne is a problem that starts and ends inside your body. Using stuff on your skin won’t do anything in the long term for you because it can’t possibly help the real problems

It’s true that the cause of acne is generally internal, but this does not remove the need for topical treatments. This product reduces inflammation and scarring. It even helps reduce older scars in time. Even if your acne is caused hormonally, you will see great improvement. On top of all this, it has ingredients that treat aging at the same time.
