Purveyors of great anti-aging potions, Pevonia, has a new(ish) range aimed at teens and 20-somethings whose skin still can’t accept that you are old enough to buy liquor. There are Pevonia SpaTeen cleansers, toners and moisturizers for problem skin and for all skin types. So, to get a head start on skincare and take a look at SpaTeen All Types Moisturizer.

At $28, this is not your typical drugstore brand. On the hand, it’s a fairly affordable taste of the high end. Talking of high, the signature ingredient in this range is kava. The roots of this plant contain kavalactones, which are pyschoactive (ie: if drunk in quantity they can give you a bit of a buzz and make you, well let’s say, more sociable). Acne or general breakouts will get relief because it is an anti-bacterial and can have a numbing effect on any sore and itchy zits. Ironically, heavy consumption of kava in liquid form can result in very unsightly skin eruptions (as suffered by Captain Cook’s crew).

Retinyl palmitate (vitamin A) and lactic acid should also help the blemished. While a good dose of hyaluronic acid will stop the skin from getting dried out.

SpaTeen has the useful inclusion of a sunscreen in the form of octisalate and I especially like proline. This is an important amino acid that can typically be found in energy drinks. Obviously it works a bit different when applied to the skin. Here, D-proline helps strengthen the cell envelope and skin, and is involved in the body’s production of collagen and cartilage.

      Marta,

Is this better or the Juice Organics Sunscreen? Which one is best for their price?

      Ha ly,
We haven’t covered Juice Organics Sunscreen. In fact, I could only find on the internet a light tinted moisturizer with SPF30 by Juice.

If that’s it, you are trying to compare apples and oranges. Pevonia is not a sunscreen but it gives a little protection. Juice has an SPF30 but, unlike Pevonia, it won’t be as helpful at controlling breakouts. So it depends what you are trying to do.
