Reviewed and Recommended: April Rain Night Rainew

    Posted by Marta

I have been trying out Night Rainew (now on sale at the TIA store for $127.09) on my neck for a few weeks and, despite some initial mild irritation, I am enjoying the experience and am appreciative of the results.

Night Rainew is a rich cream, but it absorbs easily. The skin on my neck is looking soft and hydrated. Hydration is what this cream is mostly about. The secret sauce is Hydropeptide, a combination of hyaluronate, pseudoalterononas ferment (a strain of bacteria from the Arctic Circle that helps with water retention) and a bunch of peptides. The peptides include a couple of those that prevent facial muscles from moving (dipeptide diaminobutyroyl benzylamide diacetate and AH-3) and a very new one called tripeptide-10 citrulline. The regulation of collagen fibers is controlled by a number of molecules one of which is called decorin. As we get older, decorin activity declines. This new peptide is supposed to mimic decorin so that the collagen fibers are fooled into thinking they should still be productive.

April Rain’s website alludes to “independent” trials carried out by lipotec showing that Hydropeptide has dazzling results. Actually, Lipotec is the manufacturer of tripeptide-10 citrulline and so could hardly be described as independent. Still the results aren’t bad: the trial was conducted on 43 women, about half of which were given tripeptide-10 citrulline. 54% showed an increase in skin suppleness. Over a two month period, it was shown to make the collagen fibres more uniform. April Rain commissioned its own consumer test performed by The Benchmarking Company on women between the ages of 30-60 who used Night Rainew over a period of 35 days.  Of these women, 100 percent said they were thrilled to keep using Night Rainew and 100 percent of participants said they would recommend Night Rainew to their friends and families.

There is also tripeptide 1, sometimes called Alganine, and it also has a good track record in the laboratory. Meanwhile, lecithin (found in egg yolks amongst other places) is an antioxidant.

Moving on from Hydropeptide, there are a couple of botanicals worthy of a call out. Diacetyl boldine is derived from tree bark and is a skin brightener/lightener. Buddleja davidii extract seems to be full of useful components: wound healing phenylethanoids, antioxidant flavenoids such as the powerful quercetin, and anti-inflammatory saponins.

What’s more April Rain uses certified organic ingredients and, as might be expected given their preoccupation with H2o, they donate money to a water charity. If they could only find a way to omit the sodium benzoate, which seems to be a DNA killer according to research in the UK, Night Rainew would be a candidate for Best Five.

Seems like a worthy day moisturizer. I would like to take it for a test drive.

Wow, would love to try this. I’m currently using DPL, and I’m not sure if it’s that, or the retinol in the Green Cream that I’m using, but I’m getting a few little dry, flaky patches on my cheekbones (strange place for me to get dry skin). I do use some DIY serums, etc., but nothing seems to be helping. Then again, maybe it’s the simple fact that I’m now 42 and not getting any younger…

Sorry, meant to day a night moisturizer.

Sorry, meant to say a night moisturizer.

Expressing my lust to try this product may put me over the line into greedy-guinea-piggy territory (since I’m still working on my Alasta samples — too early to pronounce on that yet), but I’ve been so wanting to try something with Syn-Coll or something with Aldenine, and here is something with both! I’m hoping to find a product that truly boosts collagen — It might help both with the light Scars of Acne Past that suddenly appeared to haunt me in my 30s (presumably due to collagen depreciation), and that incipient loss of tone that has come with my 40s. So of course I’d love to review this, but if I’m not chosen I’ll still be eager to hear what people’s results are!

Hi, Would love to try this cream out. It sounds like just what my skin could use right now since the windy days have really dried it out. I am a reliable reviewer and will give an excellent review as I have already given a review of the reluma once before.

      Thanks

You have piqued my interest and curiosity with syn-coll and the possibilities!! I would like to try Rainew and report…..

My neck has always been the stepchild in my skin care routine and now I am really paying for it. Have always been confused as to what ingredients work well on that area. Would love to try April Rain and write a comprehensive evaluation of it. So glad more and more really exciting ingredients are being discovered! Thanks for bringing them to us.

    9. Elsa says:

I am 44 and have just found this site. I would absolutely LOVE to try this skin cream for you, please.

      Thanks.

Joining the ranks of the experimenters, I, too, would like to try this product. As my skin is approaching 50, (I, of course, am nowhere near the age of my skin) I have been wanting to change products, but have been a bit fearful to experiment until now. While not disappointed with the product that I have used for several years, I do realize that there are possible improvements unrealized if I don’t try something new. Having visited your site for several months I have not been tempted to respond until now. As always, thanks for your wonderful site and information.

Just finished up the trial of Alasta (a review will soon follow) and am very interested in this product. I have actually been thinking of making my own version with Syn-Coll, Snap-8, Syn-Tacks and Matrixyl 3000, but this would be so much easier!

    12. Patty says:

I would love to try this product and review the results. Sounds like it has some very powerful ingredients. Thanks!

What’s with the incessant use of the portmanteau? Rainew? BotAction? PeptEyes? And my favorite, Luxurethic Cosmeceuticals!

Who comes up with these names?

Wait a minute, perhaps I have finally found a use for my degree in linguistics!

The April Rain sample goes to Elsa, a new – and very welcome – member of our community. We need to spread the love and some of you already have other samples in your clutches.

But keep checking back, we have lots of good stuff coming up.
