After a chance encounter with Olive’s Organic Botanicals, I became acquainted with one of the simplest and strangest cleansers I have ever tried (and believe me, there has been a fair share). Olive’s Facial Replenisher Cleanser with Carrot Seed is simple not so much in execution as in composition. The formula is composed of nothing more than seven organic oils and extracts housed in an amber glass dropper bottle. When sedentary, the yellowish oils sink to the bottom while layer of creamy goodness settles on top. But once opened, a single squeeze of the dropper blends these two parts into a redolent potion that transports you to a dewy forest floor, or a tranquil moment with a strong cup of tea.
Instead of wetting the face and massaging the cleanser into already moist skin, Olive’s Facial Replenisher needs no water. Rubbing the solution into dry skin creates a frothy lather without a trace of sodium lauryl sulfate. Because the consistency is both creamy and oily, it can get messy. I found that the easiest way to apply it is to release the contents of about half a dropper into the palm of one hand, blend it with the other palm, and spread it over the face. The solution dries almost instantly and gives skin a healthy, matte glow. After rinsing it off, my skin tone seems brighter and my pores smaller. There is a clean softness, as well as a tightening sensation that makes a follow-up with moisturizer particularly satisfying.
The base of the formula is pure olive oil, which has much more to offer than heart-healthy cooking and bread dipping. Not only is it an inexpensive and efficient eye makeup remover, but it also doubles as a non-comedogenic cleanser. Its unrefined state keeps contaminants away from skin while nutrients and antioxidants make their way in. Each of the remaining ingredients serves its own purpose in rejuvenating mature skin. Coconut and jojoba oils are excellent natural emollients. Aloe vera is suspected of a wide spectrum of skin benefits, from an absolute cure-all on one hand to immune system stimulation on the other. Regardless of which side of the spectrum you fall on, there is no doubt that aloe vera nourishes skin with polysaccharides, organic acids, enzymes, antibiotic agents, amino acids, and minerals. As the only botanical oil that contains naturally-occurring Retinoic (vitamin A) acid, rosehip oil is also an abundant source of fatty acids, flavonoids, and vitamin C. Rich in beta-carotene and vitamins B, C, D, and E, carrot seed rejuvenates aging skin and improves the function of red blood cells, thus increasing elasticity.
Because Olive’s Organic Botanicals relies on natural antioxidants (rosemary extract in particular) for slowing down the oxidation process and protecting from spoilage, the shelf life of its products is a mere 2-4 months. Wow, this looks great! I have thought about trying cleansing with olive oil before. This could just be the thing that gives me the courage to actually do it.
I would love to try your line of olive oil products! I have been having hives for over a year now and my skin is suffering and very sensitive to just about everything. I think I would be a good candidate for this line and this could possibly help others w/this condition. And you know I would let you know — lots of people are having skin conditions and looking for good products.
Why not just use plain old olive oil??

I already use straight up olive oil….so the additional anti-oxidants added will only enhance the product for me. I’d love to try it as pure, organic, non-chemically derived product is what I always seek!!

Like so many out in the marketplace today, I too am always on the lookout for safer, effective products for my sensitive skin! Olive’s products interest me for their ingredients and for the fact that a medical professional developed them. I would relish the opportunity to try the products suited to a 50 something’s needs and happily would evaluate and review the products for TIA!
I use DHC olive oil facial cleanser now to remove makeup and their olive soap. I would love to compare the difference and report back on my results. I have oily T-zone and sometimes sensitive skin.
