I missed the new 100% natural mascara from Physicians Formula when I posted my round up of eco-makeup that gives green a good name. This extremely well priced mascara ($7.99) is part of the 100% Natural Origin range, which PF claims is the first Ecocert certified organic line in the US. It definitely looks worth a flutter.
It is commendable for what’s not in it as much as what is. No parabens or other synthetic preservatives. And while we’re about it, say no to synthetic fragrance and anything that has been genetically modified (GMO). It is even supposed to be free from clumping, smudging or flaking. I haven’t tried this mascara, but Physicians Formula claims that it boosts lash volume by a factor of five.
I like that organic orange juice is the main ingredient followed my moisturizing glycerin. This has got to be the first time that I’ve come across cucumber extract in a mascara. Soothing cucumber is a great anti-irritant with the added bonus of being full of vitamin C. With rice protein and antioxidant green tea, this is a mascara that may actually condition your lashes. If it does, it should considered a low cost alternative to Jane Iredale’s Longest Lash.
The green organic theme extends to the somewhat goofy applicator and leaf motif. But you can enjoy it guilt free knowing that the plastic brush can be recycled.
Before bed, remove with the wonderfully gentle Eminence Organics eye makeup remover.

I tried this mascara and loved it. Until, I kept noticing a funny smell during the day. It drove me crazy until I realized it was the mascara. Otherwise, I love the look.
I was very pleased with the mineral powder from this line. However this mascara does not cut it for me. Way too runny.I also love their eyshadow palette for blue eyes . It is terrific.
Went through the “Five Bests” articles but could not find a “Five Best Mascaras” – am not interested in lash growth or changing the colour of my baby blues – just need and want a great mascara. Kiss Me does not cut it and Dior Show is getting very clumpy anymore, although its “Iconic” line shows some promise. Was a five best column ever done on mascara?
Deb we haven’t done a five best for mascara. But we will now that you have inspired us. In the meantime, Copley’s all time fave is Lancome’s Highdefinicils.
