    Epicuren Transform Nourishing Exfoliant

I’m still on a quest on trying out different face scrubs and truly exceptional exfoliations. One that I came across that feels like sunshine in a tube is Epicuren Man Transform Nourishing Exfoliant ($24). I have to admit, my face has been looking quite rough with this 30-degree weather and, well, let’s just say I celebrated my birthday two weeks ago for about two weeks (still celebrating!). So obviously my skin is not happy with the toxins. Epicuren Transform Nourishing Exfoliant turned out to be my best bathroom friend.

Epicuren is a boutique line based out of California and found in several high-end spas. I’m still, to this day, surprised it doesn’t have much presence in the beauty world as it’s one of the better lines I’ve used (for men). The Transform Nourishing Exfoliant is all natural with no petrochemicals and perfect for those who survive daily pollution, stress and celebrate two-week long birthdays with lots of partying (ahem). It nourishes the skin while unclenching those clogged pores.

Beauty and grooming on the go

Although I am guilty as charged, I hate that I live up to the stereotypes about women’s handbags – a bottomless pit of non-essential essentials. I’ve begun an early spring clean and am purging all but the genuinely useful and if my beauty and grooming products can multitask like the chapstick, moisturizer and wrinkle tackler that is the ThermaSkin Stick (available in the TIA store), so much the better.

No one wants to carry around deodorant but MBeze takes the sweat out of it and even makes underarm care fun. Honestly. I find the Brite Smile Whitening Pen more effective and convenient than Go Smile and Mychelle’s Mist will hydrate, refresh and give your skin its antiaging fix. Lips need constant attention and YBF’s Quench will undo damage from the elements as well as giving your pout a little plumping. With lip cancer on the increase, think about sunscreen for the lips. Optyma’s Lip Perfect provides cutting edge sun protection. And while we are paring things down, why have a brush and a comb when Versi gives you an all in one.

    Franbrand Sensational Serum

I’ve been meaning to look at Franbrand, the cosmetics by The Nanny actress 53-year-old Fran Drescher, for some time and have been putting it off because I didn’t want to be confronted with yet another mediocre line fronted by a celebrity. Well, I finally took a look and my first reactions was good on ya Fran. She set out to make a line that is good the buyer and the planet and to a large extent she seems to have succeeded. A deeper dive, however, came up with a few ingredients that she might want to reconsider.

I haven’t tried any Franbrand products, but looking at the ingredients and reading some reviews I’d say that the night cream relies on palm and other oils and there is nothing exceptional about it (except the smell, according to some reviewers, and not in a good way).

Nutra-Lift cleansers and more now in the TIA shop

Due to popular demand, we have expanded the range of Nutra-Lift products in the Truth In Aging store.

You can now find the newly reformulated Herbal Nonsoap cleanser ($24.09 for 8oz), which is now an aloe-based gel. This has rapidly become my favorite cleanser as it not only cleanses gently and effectively, but also delivers some great antioxidants to my skin right at the get go of my daily regimen. If you look at the comments on my review of Nutra-Lift NonSoap, you’ll see that the TIA community likes it too.
