Tested for at least 30 days and recommended by Marta:
I love Dr. Dennis Gross Original Alpha Beta Peel. This is his signature product that allows you to take his defining office treatment home with you. Using it daily has transformed the texture and vibrancy of my skin, makes it more receptive to the rest of my skincare regimen and little by little softens wrinkles.
I typically have sensitive skin and am prone to rosacea, but this formula is gentle while still being very effective. The results are cumulative, so using it every day – and it has certainly become the foundation of my daily beauty routine – brings incremental improvement.
I also like the ease of use of the two-step process of pre-soaked towelettes. It takes just a few swipes over the neck and face and then, after leaving for two minutes (the time it takes to clean my teeth), the second pad is applied evenly to neutralize the natural acids in step one.
Original Alpha Beta Peel is based on a process called microexfoliation, critical to healthy and younger looking skin. Cells reproduce in the epidermal junction where they are held together by lipids, ceramides and long chain fatty acids. We are constantly shedding and regenerating, but as we age, the turnover rate of our cells slows down. Young cells gradually migrate to the skin surface where they die. Exfoliation removes those dead cells and speeds the process of skin cell turnover.
Step one uses alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), including glycolic, citric, lactic and malic, plus one beta hydroxy acid (BHA), salicylic acid. It is worth noting that BHAs go a bit deeper than AHAs and will loosen dead cells that are lodged deep in the pores. Interestingly, extract of the yarrow plant is more than doing its bit and, according to research, is better than glycolic acid as a “resurfacing molecule”. The solution is rounded out with antioxidant witch hazel, green tea, plus copper and zinc.
Step two simply uses sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) to neutralize the acids in step one. However, it is good to know that there is much more, with two forms of vitamin C, vitamin A (retinol and retinyl palmitate), vitamin E, water retaining phospholipids, resveratrol and ubiquinone. The only things not to like are the preservatives sodium benzoate and phenoxyethanol.
I would never have thought that I would use a daily exfoliating product, but Alpha Beta Peel seems to be just the right calibration to be noticeably effective without overdoing things. Now I can’t imagine being without it.

I did the 7 day trial and I saw no change. My skin is dry and it was definitely a plus that the pads did not make my skin drier or red. I experienced no tightness as I do with so many products even if they say they are for dry skin.
I got the week long sample of this product and used it for the seven days every night. I noticed a light reduction in my dark spots and my skin felt softer. I did think my skin seemed a little dry by the end of the week and I would probably not use it every night if I bought a full supply. I'm 54 and would recommend the product to use every other night.
I used for over a month, and did not really notice any difference with my face. I followed instructions to a T, but I did not notice any difference, from when I started.
This is a gentle peel that leaves your skin feeling clean and soft. Not harsh at all. A quick peel even if you have to wait 2 minutes after the first application pad. Nice and Clean!
This product broke me out terribly. I've never had acne. I have huge red cystic acne on my cheeks and jaw line. People at work are asking what happened. I had great skin and now it's a total mess. I only used this product once the first day by face had a beautiful glow and seemed so bright. The very next day at work I developed 9 red huge bumps on my cheeks and jawline. I don't think my face is purging because I've never had acne. I was so excited after the first day but now I don't no how to clear my face up. It's been a week and still new red bumps appear. Any suggestions from anyone would be great.
I bought this product in July and worked this into my nighttime routine at once a week. I absolutely love how this have minimized my pores ad well as decrease the appearance of my few acne scars. I will continue using this as my once a week product in that I don't want to overdry my face with my current medication. I will, I think, try it at maybe twice a week to help even more with pores and scarring.
I also ask everyone to please keep up the honest reviews on this site because I look to Marta and all of ya'll to decide if I try something or not and I haven't been steered wrong yet. Thanks everyone!
I've received them as a sample and love them! Definitely my next purchase. Immediately after application my skin is bright and smooth.
I've been using Dr. Dennis Gross Original Alpha Beta Peel for about six weeks and my skin feels like it's been lit up several notches!! Some time ago when primers first hit the market, I started using a well-known brand to achieve more skin brightness. This product does that AS WELL AS potentiates the rest of the products I apply after I use the two-step pads.
I took a note out of Marta's "play-book" and after I cleanse my face, I apply the first pad. Then I floss and brush my teeth whilst the two recommended minutes pass. Then it's time to apply the second pad and I've not wasted a second! Neither pad causes me to have any sensitivity, redness, or discomfort. There is little to no scent on either pad and for me, exactly enough to apply each pad to my face, neck, décolleté, and the back of both hands past my wrists.
As I use up many of the wonderful products I've found on TIA, I'm not always replacing them; I am trying to pare my daily skin care regimen down to products which have specific properties and reasons (i.e. my sagging skin!) for application. However, DDG Alpha Beta Peel (and it's 'cousin', Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Alpha Beta Medi–Spa Peel) WILL DEFINITELY be products that I replace and keep using!!
I used RetinA twice a week, and so decided to use this product on the interim (two days after the RetinA), for two days in a row. I liked it, loved that it easily took off the skin from the RetinA, and had no peeling. BUT... It made me break out, with large deep blemishes- usually 1-2, but these took a long time to go away.
I stopped using, but due to wanting to see if the result was from the pads, and my infrequent use, I am out of my return time.
I think the issue is that you leave it on overnight, and perhaps I need to wash my face after 2-3 hours. I did not see this issue in other reviews, so it might be my skin
I have used one box of these treatment pads, and I love the effect it is having on my neck. I had a faint crease that is nowhere to be found now. I have also been using it on my face in hopes of fading a recently acquired mark leftover from a blemish. It has not had any effect on that yet, but I intend to buy another box and keep using it. At the very least my smooth youthful neck will distract people from the spot!
Hi Pam, I gave the presence of sodium benzoate a call out in my review because of this concern. The SB and vitamin C issue arose when tests were done on the mix of the two in sodas. I have never found any research on what happens if you mix the two ingredients in a topical product. Also the International Programme on Chemical Safety says, for SB to be harmful it would have to be consumed. Without anything definitive to go on, it's a personal call. More information here: https://www.truthinaging.com/ingredients/sodium-benzoate
I noticed that this product contains both sodium benzoate and vitamin C. Thought I'd read that these 2 should not be used together as the combination might result in production of benzene. Can you help me understand if this is still a concern? I'm avoiding using 2 of my former favorite products together because of this. Now, wondering if I misunderstood the SB + Vit C issue.
When Marta raves about a product, I'm first in line to try it. The word 'peel' though gave me pause for thought. Would my skin peel off perhaps, or sting or end up red raw? I bought a box anyway and tried it out for a month and noticed a difference in about 3 days. No pain, no dryness, just a dewy, soft complexion and clear skin. Probably nobody else observed the subtle change and certainly not my husband who wouldn't notice if I had LOVE and HATE tattooed on my cheeks, but I definitely felt a difference and am now on my second box. Best new product I've tried in months. Thanks Marta. X
Hi Gloria, that would be the Medi Spa Peel. It is closer to having the peel in Dr G's office with 15 AHAs in one pade. It is followed with a serum and intended for once a week use.

I have been using these for two weeks and WOW have I noticed the change in my pores and the clarity of my skin tone. I will continue on but I do have a question on this product. There is another product with pads but also a cream or lotion. What is the difference on these two products.
I am 54 and have mature skin. It wasn't but a week after I incorporated Alpha Beta Peel into my regimine that others started giving compliments on my skin. When a young mom at my granddaughter's play group asked me what I used on my skin, I knew this product was a keeper!
I was fortunate enough to meet Dr. Dennis Gross in person and have one of his famous in-office peels. It’s a quick totally painless little procedure with maximum results. I was completely impressed with how my skin looked — instantly glowy and dewy and taut. The results continued for a few days after, and I could see why people get hooked. Needless to say, I was very excited to test out the Dr. Dennis Gross Original Alpha Beta Peel pads, in hopes of keeping the glow a’glowing.
I’ve really enjoyed this added step in my routine. I actually get excited every time I get to use them again! And while I can’t say that these pads pack the same punch as the in-office peel treatment, they definitely have helped keep my skin looking and feeling smooth and clear. I actually prefer to use them in the morning because my makeup goes on so smoothly afterwards. And I think they’ve helped a bit with monthly congestion that I sometimes get around my chin. And as a sort of weird bonus, after swiping my face with the pads, I swipe my feet. Don’t judge me! It has actually helped to keep my feet soft too. I love a multi-tasker. I would say that I'd purchase them again, but these pads are kind of like a “gateway” product, because now I wan to to step up my game and go for the heavier-hitting Alpha Beta Medi-Spa Peel. It’s more expensive, but if it gets results closer to the in-office treatment it’s totally worth it!
These peel pads are great! I have used them every other day for over one year. I I feel my skin looks brighter since I have been using them. The reason I gave them 4 stars is because of the added fragrance.
I am absolutely in love with these peels so far. I was skeptical to buy them since they are a bit less natural than I typically like to purchase, but I'm glad I did. I've been trying to lighten up post-inflammatory hyper pigmentation marks left behind from a very bad break out on my pale, sensitive skin. I've been spending tons of money on products, but nothing has worked quite as well as these have in just a week. The spots have already began to lighten up, and my very sensitive skin has had no problem at all with daily use. They also seem to be overall calming on the acne I've been still struggling with lately. My skin has not peeled dramatically or gotten dry or flakey, which is also great. They are very gentle. Instead of a global effect, only the damaged skin on some of the spots have dried and fallen off as they heal, and the rest of my skin just has a nice glow. I wish some of the ingredients, especially the fragrance, wasn't in these, but I think these are worth it none the less if you are dealing with something difficult to fix, like spots. I'm so happy with these, as I've been really down about these marks, and have spent lots of money trying to fix them already. I think using these with the red/ blue LED and ultrasound device sold on Truth in Aging is a really winning combination for treating acne and marks , and I would encourage anyone struggling with those problems to give them both a try. The cost is actually very reasonable when compared to the cost of getting one peel and LED session from an esthetician or at a dermatologists office.
I can really understand, first of all, why the Alpha Beta peel is so addictive. As Marta noted in her review, they come packaged in a box of 30 — a month’s use — and treatment consists of two presoaked pads. Very simply, you apply the first all over, wait two minutes, and then use the second I used them every night. My verdict: my skin seems very clear with noticeably minimized pores.
