I have sensitive and very dry skin and I am always looking out for a moisturizer that can be truly effective while to causing any reactions or breakouts. Mostly, this quest has been unsuccessful. Until…. I tried Transderma M Moisturizing Serum ($175).
Unlike almost every moisturizer that I have tried, Transderma M Moisturizing Serum is not a cream. It is a clear liquid with almost no scent. It is so light and rapidly absorbing that I couldn’t imagine that it would actually hydrate my skin. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Almost instantly, my mid-40s skin looked a little more supple. But the real impact came three days later.
Using this moisturizing serum twice a day, with only a few days, stubborn flakey patches near my chin and on my forehead started to clear up. Now a month into my test, they are long gone and showing no signs of returning. I dabbed a little on my finger nails, which are so dry that they are ridged. With only three applications, my nails are pink and smooth. I am delighted.
I really love that this is not a rich cream. Apart from noticing that my skin is softer, I would not know that I was wearing anything. This is a big bonus in the hotter months.
Transderma says that M is based on “ceramides and lipids identical to those found in human skin”. The main ingredient is squalane, which Truth In Aging says can permeate into the skin at a rate of 2 mm/second. Squalane is an antioxidant, prevents UV damage and the formation of age spots and promotes cell growth. There are two types of ceramides, a lipid that keeps your skin hydrated and plump and phytosphingosine, these are also lipids and a phospholipid, that attracts and holds on to moisture.
These ingredients may explain why I noticed that my very dry skin is now nicely hydrated, but I’ve also seen some plumping around my fine lines. I’ve also read about how Transderma doesn’t formulate with water or preservatives and this maximizes that concentration of actives used. I’ll definitely be looking at other products in the Transderma line.

The Transderma M moisturizing serum was great! I have VERY dry, mature skin and live in Florida so a lot of sun and water exposure makes it worse, so this was absolutely perfect for me! I am 56 years old, so it works for me, with no breakouts or pimples, but may not work as well for someone with younger, less dry skin.
I'm giving this one two thumbs up
I like this moisturizer very much. A water-free moisturizer is a rare thing. It is based on squalane, but I wouldn't characterize it as an oil. The minimal ingredient list is all about moisture retention and repairing the lipid barrier. I'm impressed with its skin-plumping effects and see this as a new addition to my regimen
It is great for hydration but not for an antiaging product. When I think of antiaging I think of a product that removes or reduces fine lines and wrinkles in this product does not do that. And because in my opinion it is an oil, I would not purchase this product at the price of $175. There are many wonderful oils that are on the market that absorb just as easily and work just as well as this one in the $10 to $20 range. If this product wear an anti-aging product as in it reduce fine lines and wrinkles and also hydrated then I would definitely buy this!! But with this product you would still need to use another serum or lotion that reduces fine lines and wrinkles if that's what you're looking for.
