An eye cream with growth factors and two of my favorite – but all too rare - peptides is the kind of thing to get me at hello. Five weeks later and I’m not going to be saying goodbye anytime soon. KERACELL 8-in-1 Eye Renew is a keeper.

This is a rich moisturizing eye cream that visibly reduces fine lines - especially those crepey ones that can gather under the eye. I am particularly impressed by the firming and softening effect – if that doesn’t sound like an oxymoron. In other words, using this twice a day, my skin feels more taut, the lids a little lifted and the under eye tighter, while the skin seems more velvety.

There are two excellent peptides in KERACELL 8-in-1 Eye Renew. One is trifluoroacetyl tripeptide-2 (also known as TT2) and it can reduce progerin, a protein that can induce cell death (source). Therefore, it can prolong the life of cells as well as decrease elastase, helping to keep the skin firmer. The second is caprooyl-tetrapeptide-3, which also goes by the name of ChroNOline. It is derived from a growth factor, namely TGF-ß and stimulates production of laminin 5, a glycoprotein and that plays a key role in the epidermal basement membrane. It also boosts collagen VII and fibronectin.

Another peptide makes up a complex called Syn-Eye. This is tripeptide-5 (and) panthenol (and) sodium hyaluronate. It is supposed to reduce fine lines and wrinkles around the eye, within one week, as well as the appearance of dark circles.

Last but not least, the roll-call of actives includes KERACELL’s signature ingredient – stem cells derived from human stromal cells, which in the dermis release growth factors that promote cell division to regenerate the skin.

There is almost nothing to dislike except some silicone and the preservative phenoxyethanol. Pot-o-phobes won’t like the packaging, but as I don’t consider myself one of them, I heartily recommend this moisturizing eye cream. One final note is that I found that it works extremely well on its own, but also can be layered over the kind of eye serum that on its own might be a little drying.
