After just over four weeks of using my sample of the Medik8 Retinol 3 TR ($55 in the shop), I can say without reserve that I love it! I am 54 and have been using a vitamin C serum in the mornings along with moisturizer and lots of sunscreen. I talked with my dermatologist who said that the Number 1, 2 and 3 things we can do to protect our skin from aging is to use sunscreen (and then a retinol product).

I tried a prescription retinol cream many years ago but stopped, as it made my sensitive skin red. I hadn’t tried a retinol serum until I had the chance to try the Medik8 Retinol 3 TR. I was very excited to give it a whirl!

It felt great from the very first application. It was very easy to put on, my skin felt smooth and I didn’t have any redness or irritation. I have been using it at night with Mad Hippie Eye Cream ($24.99 in the shop) and then a moisturizer.

What I have noticed mostly is that since the first application, my skin has been much less flaky. Somehow, it is gently exfoliating and making my skin smoother. I also noticed that my skin tone was brighter and more even from the first few days on. I haven’t noticed an improvement in fine lines yet, but they surely haven’t gotten worse.

The only difficulty I had was with the dropper. The instructions say that the dropper is shaped so that the serum can be applied directly on your face. I tried that the first couple of days, and I guess it was my own clumsiness — it just ran down my face, and I wasted product having to reapply it. More graceful people than I may have better luck! Fortunately the instructions also say that you can put drops on your finger and apply it that way, and that’s what I have been doing.

I would highly recommend this serum, especially for people like me who have sensitive skin. I will continue to use it — I’m a convert!
