I tested the Moana Night Repair Serum (NZ $155 or roughly $134 USD) for a little more than two months and am just now coming to the end of the bottle. Moana Skin Care is from New Zealand and offers products that are natural, organic and free of harmful chemicals.

The Night Repair Serum I tried is quoted as “gently removing toxins and restores vitality to your skin during sleep, improving texture and tone, while its excellent cleansing and purifying properties reduce puffiness around eyes. It is suitable for all skin types especially for sensitive dry and or mature skin.”

The new buzz word in cosmeceuticals is glycans. Glycans are macro molecules or polysaccharides. Glycans (complex polysaccharides) are known to increase the production of collagen within the dermal layers of your skin, however they are also responsible for a deeper level of nourishment by delivering vitamins, minerals and oils deep into the cellular matrix to vastly improve your skin's overall health and appearance. Without them, the cells in our bodies cannot communicate with each other. In our skin, glycans aid communication between its various layers by sending a message to produce collagen, which makes the skin supple and smooth. This communication can breakdown as we age as the glycans stop working as efficiently.

The natural marine glycans (Glycoplus ®) in Moana Skincare are from high concentrations of red seaweed marine glycans (up to 95% throughout the Moana product range. The nutrients from red seaweed are able to penetrate deep into your cells, more efficiently than any other skincare ingredients, to help your skin improve its firmness and hydration. It is at this deeper level of your skin’s structure that cells carry out important rejuvenating tasks. Red seaweed offers the highest levels of amino acids, minerals and vitamins to help your skin rejuvenate and moisturize.

The oils of lavender and melissa are calming, antiseptic and antibacterial . Kawakawa oil is from a native shrub and is considered a healing herb known for its anti-inflammatory effect internally and externally. Mamaku leaf extract is from the giant Mamaku Black Fern. They protect the entire native forest from water loss. Mamaku extract also helps protect and hydrate your skin while promoting healthy cell renewal. Mamaku has the ability to regenerate and stimulate cell growth and repair DNA strains. Kowhai extract is from one of the best known native trees in New Zealand. The leaves have traditionally been used for their cleansing and soothing properties. Finally, dehydroacetic acid and benzyl alcohol are both organic compounds used as preservatives.

My experience with Moana night serum has been positive from the very beginning. It is lightweight, lightly scented, absorbs immediately and brightens and tightens instantly. I used it twice a day morning and evening although directions say for night use. I also noticed less puffiness and more brightness under the eyes as well. It is a great multi-tasking treatment! The product bottle is elegant yet it is plastic and non-breakable. It is an airless pump yet the top unscrews so you can get the last bit of goodness out of the bottle. I have nothing but good things to say about this product. So, yes… this is something I would love to use and would buy.
