TIA Review by Marta
Kristen our green beauty makeup artist has been gently nagging me for ages to try Alima Pure's range of natural mineral makeup. Mineral makeup can so often be a washout when it comes to color, but this is where Alima excels. If I had to sum up this line, I would start by saying Alima has a way with color. Its pigments are truly vibrant and its understanding of skin tone is impressive. Oh, and Alima uses natural, organic ingredients.
Alima founder, Kate O'Brien, is an artist, hence her way with color and pigmentation. She started the line when her daughter grew old enough to use makeup as she wanted her to have products that would be a 100%.
I have a fairly ruddy complexion and was intrigued by the Color Balancing Powder, which is the mineral equivalent of a primer worn under a foundation. I have the Pistachio (there are three other shades), which is indeed a pale green. Even knowing that green hues are supposed to take down redness in skin tone, I was surprised about how green this powder was when I first opened the container. However, a flick of the softest fluffiest brush I have ever used (now I know why Julie Kay is "wild about brushes") took down all my redness, leaving me pale and interesting. I am also using it with great success over Osmotics Inner Light sheer foundation for a porcelain look. Magic. Color Balancing Powder has the most focused ingredients list I have ever seen; mica and iron oxides. That's it.
Thanks for being so persistent Kristen!
