Sciote Peptide+Defense Firming Youth Serum uses a proprietary blend of amino acids, hyaluronic acid, vitamin A and Matrixyl 3000. This anti-aging serum helps to reduce fine lines and wrinkles by plumping and smoothing skin's surface, as well as stimulating collagen production to repair damaged tissue and lift sagging skin.
Directions:
Apply 2-3 pumps daily to face, neck and decollete after cleansing.
TIA Review by Cindy:
I am 51 and have combination skin with an oily T-zone. However, I live in the midwest, and my skin suffers from dehydration in the winter. I have some minor sun damage and hyperpigmentation, a few wrinkles around my eyes and the dreaded "elevens" between my brows. Recently, I have noticed a loss of elasticity, and gravity seems to be working against me (yes, my skin is sagging). I prefer to use clean, healthy and natural skincare products but have struggled to find a hydrating/firming serum that performs well. Most I have tried have been mediocre at best, with few or no visible results.
Now, on to the product. The Sciote Peptide+Defense Firming Youth Serum came in a sleek, sophisticated, 1 fl. oz (30ml) pump bottle. The product is designed for all skin types and contains a hydrating, nourishing peptide blend, hyaluronic acid, vitamin A, alpha hydroxy acid, matrixyl 3000 (which stimulates collagen and elastin production) and hexapeptide 3 (to relax facial tension and reduce lines and wrinkles). The company states that this serum will help "refine the appearance of wrinkles, even skin tone and texture and promote elasticity and firmness to the skin."
This product is a clear, unscented, light-weight serum that applies smoothly and absorbs quickly. The pump delivery system worked very well, and I used about one or two pumps every night. I have used this serum for about 30 days now, and while I don't know that it has "turned back the hands of time", I do feel my skin looks more radiant and bright. I have noticed a slight decrease in the lines between my eyebrows, and my laugh lines also seem to be less prominent. Overall, my skin looks plumper and more hydrated. I like that the serum contains a nice combination of anti-aging, moisturizing, firming, smoothing and cell regenerating ingredients. I was able to use this one product, rather than using three or four different serums (AHA, antioxidant and hyaluronic acid) that I had been using previously. This factor alone can justify the price tag. I also think my make-up goes on more smoothly and evenly in the morning, and I seem to be using less BB cream and concealer, which is an unexpected benefit.
In sum, this is a high quality product that delivers visible results without the undesirable ingredients found in so many others of its kind. I also like the company's philosophy and approach to creating quality skincare that is locally sourced and socially/environmentally conscious. This is exactly what I look for in a company. I have recently added the Firming Youth Cream to my regimen (which I apply after the Firming Youth Serum) and will be ordering the Firming Eye Serum, as well. I highly recommend this product line.

A change of packaging (this is one well-behaved pump!) gave me an excuse to go back to Firming Youth Serum a couple of months ago. This serum strongly features amino acids, which my skin always does very well on. Amino acids make my skin very luminous and healthy-looking. I also like that there is the always-dependable Matrixyl 3000. This is a light-weigh serum that also hydrates with a natural alternative to sodium hyaluronate. It even passed my neck test - my neck skin is less good condition than my face and offers a serum more of a challenge. Results, smoother and more dewy skin.

I have discovered Truth in Aging a couple of month ago and was quite impressed by how the product assortment is being managed. After reading many reviews on the site, I decided to purchase the Sciote Peptide+Defense serum (I purchased it from a different store which was offering a discount at the time but I feel that I have to leave a review here because I discovered it on the TIA website).
To put its effects into context, I need to tell you a little bit about my skin. I am 44, with combination skin. I take very good care of my skin and I have always used what I perceived to be the most effective skincare available. I have also religiously used a sunscreen every day of my life and I typically use a cleanser, serum, moisturizer and neck cream both morning and night. My latest regimen had the Algenist retinol serum and 37 extreme actives creme at night and Luzern Microgel and Luzern BB cream in the morning, with the Medik Pore Cleanse gel used both morning and night. My biggest concerns are a loss of firmness, balancing my combination skin and not getting the occasional breakout, particularly on my chin which is my problem area. I have also been concerned about increasingly large pores.
I chose this serum for three reasons: its stated firming properties, the fact that it does not have undesirable synthetics in it and the fact that one reviewer stated that it had replaced both an AHA and a moisturizer. I was looking for something light enough for the morning, which would not make my forehead and nose shiny, while also providing some firming and anti-aging benefits. In keeping with the tradition on this website, I have tested it for 30 days before turning in my review.
I have used it for 30 days in the morning, a pump on the face and one on the neck. I find one pump to be a perfectly calibrated amount for my face. The serum is light, gel-like, and absorbs quickly. It leaves the skin fairly matte but not dehydrated. After 30 days, the biggest improvement is on my neck (Again, I was taking care of my neck by using the Algenist neck cream at night and the Erno Laszlo Firmarine cream in the morning). Still, this serum made a difference: my skin is smoother and the horizontal lines are less visible.
The improvement on my face is more subtle, but it is real. I did experience slight firming. I can mostly feel it if I touch my face - it just feels more taut. The overall appearance is more healthy. My skin has been perfectly moisturized, despite the fact that the Luzern BB cream that I use on top of the serum is a bit drying (I still use it because I cannot stand a shiny forehead). I got no breakouts, which is a huge plus for me. Overall, I am pleased with this serum and I will continue to use it. This is quite something, given that I rarely manage to finish skin care products, as I am always on the lookout for the next outstanding products.

I tried the small sample in our membership kit and I liked the consistency and scent of the product. It was too little to tell if it made a difference in any way, but I like what I read about the company. Seems like one to watch!

Just wanted to say that I love Sciote Skin! Both the Youth Serum and Youth Cream are my nightly rituals. My skin has changed drastically since I started using these products on a regular basis. The Super Moist is another Sciote product I can not live without!
