Medik8 Growth Factor is an age-defying facial serum that eradicates fine lines and wrinkles, brightens dull complexions, and restores smoothness and radiance to the skin. The potent anti-ager is formulated with epidermal growth factors (EGF) to promote skin cell regeneration, increase collagen production, and improve the skin’s overall tone. Medik8 Growth Factor has been tested and reviewed by women in the TIA community, along with all of the products offered by Truth In Aging. So you can purchase this item confident that you will see all the anti-aging benefits it promises.

The collagen-boosting serum contains EGFs that are triple-filtered and free of It solvents, alcohols, and other harmful ingredients. Medik8 Growth Factor also contains host of powerful actives, such as hydraulic acid, rosemary, and vitamin B, to fight the signs of aging and leave skin with a smooth, soft, and radiant-looking glow.

Directions:
Apple a few drops to the face twice daily as part of your routine.

TIA Review by Marta:
One of the more intriguing plant stem cell extracts is the peptide sh-Oligopeptide-1. It is also in a serum that I have been testing and have been impressed by: Medik8 Growth Factor.

There are several things to like about Medik8 Growth Factor. It has a pared back formula that has no solvents, alcohols or other ingredients that could negatively impact the growth factor. The price for a 1oz bottle is very good compared to BioEffect. The serum is light, absorbs easily and does not leave a sticky residue. And, oh yes, it works. I found that it has a good effect on wrinkles - even those forehead ones.

The key active is sh-Oligopeptide-1, a recombinant human peptide that is produced by fermentation in e.coli. Medik8 says that it has been triple filtered and encapsulated in liposomes to ensure penetration into the skin. There isn’t any independent research that I have found on this active and its results. However, my experience with it has been positive with an effect on wrinkles. It must be said that I gave my test six weeks and although I felt my skin was smoother within a couple of weeks, as with most growth factors, I found that the serum came into its own after a month or so.

The handful of accompanying actives are all useful. There is antioxidant rosemary, panthenol (vitamin B) and hydrating hyaluronic acid. The only thing not to like is the preservative phenoxyethanol, which may be a neurotoxin and irritant. Note that the coloring Blue 1 is deemed safe for use in the EU and by the FDA. Yellow 5 (C1 19140) is a tartrazine and although it is commonly and legally used, it can cause allergic reactions in some people.

I first came across Medik8 a few years ago with a product called Firewall and as this European brand didn’t have much presence in the US, it went off my radar. I am pleased to have been reunited with it and look forward to trying some more of Medik8 products as well as hearing more from our reviewer Noel on progress with the Firma Derma neck serum.

Your Take...

  • Hi Dianne

Medik8's UK distributor still has inventory of the original Growth Factor and that is what we have for sale in the Truth In Aging store.

  • If Medik8 have withdrawn their Growth Factor product from the UK Market because "we can no longer get the high standard of product ingredients we need for Growth Factor:" Then why are they still selling it abroad? This was withdrawn or stopped production way back in April 2015. Does this mean that you had a huge stockpile of this product that will soon run out or are Medik8 still selling it to overseas companies in an inferior form? Please can you investigate?

I absolutely love Medik8 Growth Factor Youth Activating Serum. It is the best product I have ever tried!! It gives my skin a glow and plumps it up. My skin is totally addicted to it! My skin looks totally different when I don't use it - dull and lifeless. I have tried other growth factor products, but I never get the same result. Medik8 growth Factor Youth Activating serum just penetrates into my skin instantly and makes it soft and dewy. I look younger in seconds. I don't know what I am going to use if this product is discontinued.

  • Do u know Medik8 are no longer providing this product! I have been unable to buy this any longer in the UK and asked if there was a problem to which they stated they can no longer obtain the highest quality ingredients they need to produce this product. Hmm

  • I was looking at the UK Medik8 website and saw this is no longer listed. I contacted them and they explained that sadly there are no longer producing this product as they can't access the high quality materials used so would rather stop than provide an inferior product. So sadly seems won't be around for much longer.

I have been using the Medki8 Growth Factor along with the Medki8 Fire Wall Serum primarily at night for almost 2 months now and am really starting to see some great results. Fortunately I was blessed with good skin & although I’m fairly oily I do have to be careful about how my skin reacts to products so I don’t get break outs and I’m happy to report I’ve not had a one with both of these products. My skin is smoother, has fewer lines and appears more even toned. I don’t care much for makeup so having great skin is very important to me.I wouldnt hesitate to reccommend these products to anyone and hope youll love them as much as I do. Good luck!

  • Hi, May I use Medik8 Growth Factor around the eyes? Have a great evening :)

  • 5 stars 5 out of 5

This must be the fountain of youth. My skin is soft, smooth and I look younger the longer I use it. It isn't a product that tightens the skin for a few hours, this product helps the skin maintain and restore its own firmness. From what I see. I won't go with out it now.

  • Hi Cristina and Kara! Medik8 Firewall uses copper peptides and Matrixyl 3000 to help smooth out wrinkles, firm and plump skin, and even out skin tone and texture. It's an excellent option to help revive dull skin and has been one of the best products we've come across! Growth Factor uses sh-Oligopeptide-1 as it's leading active, to really help iron out deeper lines and wrinkles.

The two complement each other well, and if you were to use both in a single regimen, I'd recommend targeting deeper wrinkles with Growth Factor, and using Firewall to improve overall skin tone and texture.

  • I would appreciate if you can answer Kara's question from September.... I have the same concern. Thanks,

"What is the difference between this product and the Firewall? Do they do the same thing?"

Growth Factor is so amazing -- between this and Firewall, I know now that there are powerful topicals out there that can make a serious difference in the tone and texture of your skin. I actually just opened my third bottle of Growth Factor this morning and noticed a difference in the consistency. It's thicker than my previous two bottles and I was wondering if the formula had been changed?

I always come to truthinaging website when I want honest, helpful guidance when choosing skincare products. And so far all the products I've purchased from the site have not disappointed, but some stand out as superstars and this product is one of those. I have been using for 3 weeks, both am and pm, and have already noticed a subtle difference in the frownlines on my forehead and my laugh lines. This product does what it claims, which is so refreshing in the confusing world of skincare. Thankfully Marta and her team remove a lot of the confusion and trepidation when buying new products. I will be purchasing more when the time comes and as another reviewer mentioned it does last quite a while when used according to directions. I have to admit I have been a bit heavy handed with my applications, but still have more than half a bottle left after 3+ weeks of twice daily, okay sometimes thrice daily, applications. I am a skincare product junkie after all and this product is my new fix! Can't wait to try their Firewall next...so excited that it is in stock again.

Works very well for me and in combination with Firewall gives the best results.
My skin is in a good condition and although it's hard to see any difference (as I'm manically buying anything new), I'm sure it does only good to my skin.

  • WOW! That was the one word that came out of my mouth when I saw the diff in my skin. Woke up this morning, in a hurry to fetch my so needed first caffeine of the day, caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror. Stopped. Frooze. And said WOW.

I really do not understand how this worked. Upon application, I got the sample in the bb box) my skin started tingling and felt a bit hot. Sort of like when you are approaching a flue. I didn't apply anything on top cause, me being a first time user of EGF's (and yes, a bit afraid of using this ingredient on my skin, or elsewhere for that matter) I wanted to feel and see what it did on it's own.

From the sample, tiny, alas, I only made it to 2 applications (might it be that I am a slatherer?) and even so, the diff was huge. The wrinkles from my nose to mouth looked more filled in, much more so. The lines between my brows not so much so but who knows, when used regularly and proper (must do more read up on this item!) this might improve also.

Certainly concidering buying this product, once I've worked myself through my current stash of skincare products BUT I would love to hear from you, is their ANY chance at all that EGF products promote the growth of facial hair (sic! no need for that, certainly not in my case whereas I have a lifelong hatred relation with these nasty hairs on chin.

One last question: what's the real diff between this Medik8 item and the Medik8 Firewall?

Thank you, for listening to me. Wishing y'all a great day!

    Marja.

Yipee! Junko, I am so pleased that this is working out for you. I think that Medik8 is making some really great products. As we have both tried a lot of products and, over the years, some of the same ones, I get a big kick when our positive experiences coincide.

Really, really enjoying Medik8 Growth Factor! Most serums I've used in the past feel a little oily which usually after continued use makes my skin either break out with acne or dermatitis like rashes around my mouth & chin. Medik8 thankfully is a much drier serum that has NOT given me any of those problems. Actually, it seems to be keeping my skin clearer and speeds up cell turnover, helping to shrink pores and BEST OF ALL diminish the size and color of 2 red spots I have on my face. These 2 spots have been on my face for the past couple of years now and nothing else I've used has changed the visual appearance of them except Medik8 Growth Factor. For My Money, this is a GREAT SERUM!

I have just finished using the sample of Medik8 included in the Early Summer Sampler and find my skin to be smoother, the dry patches due to aging are gone. At 71 years old I have tried many expensive products and this product seems to do what it claims to do. Medik8 has brightened any discolourations. I will be ordering this product

I agree with Rachel, it is on the pricey side but used sparingly you will be amazed with how long it lasts and the results. I know it says fine lines, but I can say for certain that those big parentheses from my nose to my chin that I used to be able to hide a chipmunk in are noticeably reduced. My daughter asked me what I was using. She said "because whatever it is, is making you look ten years younger." It also helps even out skin tone just as a plus.

I love this serum. I have slightly oily skin and sometimes break out with the odd spot, so I am always hesitant when using a new product. I have been using medik8 for almost two years now, and couldn’t be without hydr8 B5. I thought I would give this a try as, although I love B5, my skin is not as young as it used to be. I have not been disappointed. The feeling after putting on my skin is amazing, my skin feels so smooth and it dries without any stickiness and I am sure the fine wrinkles have improved. I only use in the evening (as it is expensive) but can really feel the difference.

For this price, at least they could make a product that's USDA Organic. And free of synthetics. Also, it's unclear if they use animal ingredients (toxic production), or animal testing. I'll just stick to my coconut oil for now...

Hi, I've been looking for a good serum to improve my skin but am not sure if this will work for me since it's got citric acid. My skin is very sensitive and allergic to Vitamin C. But I still decided to try it out and ordered a travel size. We'll see how it'll do. ;)

Suggest you curtail selling all products containing Phenoxethanol. Have just been reading side effects caused by this chemical and it does not make for good reading! Is this why medik 8 have stopped providing Growth serum. Even the type they used is not safe, it is a well known carcinogenic. if it is ingested, which it must be when applied around lips, or inhaled, when applied around nose. will now be checking out Firewall ingredients as I have been using both products.

I have been trying a few different serums and exfoliators over the past few months and this product was one. I had a sample which I used for about 10 days. When I ran out I did not buy a full size because of the cost . ( I have a kid in college and the budget to show it!) Well, within a few days I noticed a difference in my skin - it did not look as pretty, smooth, radiant- and now I have to break it to the husband that I need a full size bottle of this.

    Hi Shalini

It isn't an issue of age, but of wrinkles. Growth factors and some peptides need something to repair - eg a wrinkle (different peptides do different things: http://www.truthinaging.com/review/peptides-what-are-they). If you don't have wrinkles then you won't see any results and will be disappointed. If you are looking for something preventative, choose a product with antioxidants.
