As I sit here typing, dealing with a week of record-breaking frigid temperatures and what feels like our 700th round of snow, I can't help but reflect on one truth: I want it to be summer.
However, since I have quite a while to wait for warm breezes and ocean dips, I've decided the next best thing will be to indulge in beauty products that remind me of summer. Here are a few choices with natural ingredients and delectable fragrances to pamper and transport us to a summer place — even if that place is within our own icicle-laden walls at home.
Indie Lee Brightening Cleanser($32) brightens skin with the natural antioxidant and exofoliator, strawberry oil, which also gives it its refreshing and energizing scent. Free of parabens and sulfates, this gentle cleanser thoroughly washes away impurities and makeup residue.
Arcona White Tea Purifying Cleanser ($42) cleanses skin and removes makeup while shrinking the appearance of pores and leaving skin moisturized. It also helps calm troubled skin and balance skin's natural pH with soothing yucca, vitamin E and aloe extracts. Grapefruit, lemon, lime, and pineapple and mango extract give it a delicious fruity scent.
Snowberry Gentle Rimineralising Toner ($54 in the shop) is both a gentle foaming cleanser and toner. It's packed with botanical antioxidants including extracts of kumquat, kiwi, neem fruit, honeysuckle and sunflower, and has a lovely tropical fragrance.
Kat Burki Beauty Elixir ($42) combines the power of aloe vera hydrosols, lavender, raw grapefruit seeds, camu camu berries and vitamin C to soothe, moisturize and refresh the skin with a simple spray. It's available in rose peony, cucumber and citrus scents.
Elizabeth Dehn for One Love Organics Active Moisture Time Release Vitamin D Moisture Mist ($39 in the shop) gives lasting hydration to the skin with its aromatic spray that prolongs the delivery of actives. Alpine rose extract protects skin from environmental stressors while shiitake mushroom soothes irritation.
Sevani Rose Hyaluronic Age Defying Tonique ($39 in the shop) is an all-natural, fragrant mist that hydrates and balances the skin. Pomegranate and rose extract reduce redness, dryness and the appearance of puffy eyes, while MSM encourages the production of new collagen.
Kat Burki Hibiscus Antioxidant Face Mask ($78) combines natural ingredients and powerful antioxidants to enhance skin's radiance and resurface and exfoliate skin. Raw blueberries and cranberries reduce scarring and discoloration while rose hip and grapeseed oils restore needed moisture.
Red Flower Kinmoxei Wild Lime Silk Oil ($48 in the shop) leaves skin deeply moisturized and glowing with ingredients that include antioxidants, fatty acids, and natural silk protein. Its fresh, clean scent is derived from minmoxei flowers, mimosa and hints of lime.
Mukti Antioxidant Facial Oil ($40) contains a blend of regenerative oils such as macadamia, jojoba, rosehip and evening primrose to assist in collagen production and to increase skin elasticity. Pomegranate and carrot seed oils provide an antioxidant boost, while sandalwood and patchouli oils add to its spicy scent.
Arcona Paradise Within Body Wash ($28 in the shop) is formulated with natural astringents and herbal compounds, with a rich lather that comes from plant extracts, not sodium laurel sulfate. It revitalizes skin with shea butter, fruit and flower extracts and has a refreshing, light citrusy scent.
The Organic Pharmacy Rose Shower Gel ($45) uses olive and rose hip oils to cleanse the body without stripping skin of moisture. Its mild and gentle formula contains geranium, marigold, bilberry, grapefruit seed extract, and vitamins C and E.
Astara Citrus Lavender Sea Salt Scrub ($39) is a fragrant scrub that uses a mix of Dead Sea salts and papaya enzymes for dual-action exfoliation and softening. Nourishing botanicals in a glycerin base hydrate skin without leaving behind an oily residue.
S.W. Basics Body Scrub ($22) uses demerara sugar and organic shredded coconut to gently exfoliate and coconut oil to moisturize, leaving skin super soft — and lightly fragranced with coconut, of course.
Red Flower Italian Blood Orange Softening Hand Lotion ($18), with its intoxicating sweet and spicy citrus scent, transforms dry skin with nourishing grapeseed oil, vitamin E and apricot oil.
Mukti Pink Grapefruit Body Lotion ($47) is a non-greasy vegan moisturizer that hydrates, nourishes and protects skin with shea nut butter, cocoa butter and coconut oil. Its initially strong scent of pink grapefruit pleasantly dissipates after absorption.
Kat Burki Body Butter ($62) is an intensely hydrating body moisturizer designed for fast absorption. A proprietary organic herb blend, along with moisturizing natural oils, leaves skin hydrated, toned and freshly scented.
