After using the Dawn Lorraine Wild Berry Nutrient Creme ($54) for about a month I found it to be an all around good natural day cream. I was pleasantly surprised to find the texture incredibly light and fluffy — a nice change from some other 100% natural products that can be quite heavy or waxy.
The cream has a pleasant fruity, almost cherry-like, smell and sinks right in, leaving skin with a healthy glow. The first ingredient is aloe so it’s wonderful as an after sun soother with additional skincare benefits.
However, I did have to apply additional cream when I used it at night as I found it not to be hydrating enough for me. I think if you have normal to combination skin this would be a great all around basic day cream, however if you’re skin is as severely dehydrated as mine is, this probably won’t be moisturizing enough.
I do take issue with the packaging. While the glass jar with the tin lid is lovely to look at in my bathroom cabinet, it doesn’t hold up well once it’s open, and the potency of the active ingredients starts to degrade.
If you’re looking for a reasonably priced all natural day cream, or a light and soothing after sun cream this just might be a nice addition to your skincare regimen. For me though, with skin over 40 I need something that hydrates more and has more heavy hitting anti-aging ingredients in it.

I'd like to weigh in on the packaging issue. Whenever I see someone saying that ingredients use their potency whenever a jar is opened, I wonder whether it is actually true. I have spent hours on the internet trying to find some research on this topic, but all I can find are people repeating it as a common sense mantra. When I finally did turn up some research it was interesting and surprising.
The research was on the effects of light versus air. It found that there was a 0.8% degradation of the active studied (it was retinol in this case) after 4 hours of exposure to air. This was 10 times less than when exposed to light. So a tinted jar is probably a lot better than a clear pump. And let's just think about 4 hours. That's 240 minutes. When I open a jar to put cream on my face, it takes about 1 minute - probably less. But let's say it is 1 minute. That means I have 240 uses - or 240 days (more than enough time to use the entire thing up) - to dip into my pot of cream and see a less than 1% degradation in potency.
Jars, especially eco-friendly ones, get my vote.

Hi Jenny, Thank you so much for trying out our product and the wonderful things you had to say. I think you may like our Black Currant Hydra Crème for night time. It was created for our clients who said they need butter on their face and is super rich in oils. Let us know if you would like one and we are happy to send it your way.
I want to take an opportunity to educate about why we have chosen our packaging. Many people are just beginning to become aware of the impact of single use disposable plastics on the environment. We are proudly committed to sustainability and making the planet a safer and better place for all beings. I personally am a passionate advocate for reducing plastic waste, specifically non-recyclable single use plastics, in the beauty industry. Unfortunately, those wonderful air tight pumps so popular today are not recyclable at all. I have chosen our jars, glass with metal lids, with future generations in mind, they are 100% multi-use recyclable. I know they may be a little less convenient but we hope that our followers who care about the earth and all its inhabitants support our choice.
Thank you again,
Dawn Lorraine
