Now that summer is almost over, I am looking for a product that will keep my skin moist and supple and at the same time help it recover from those frequent trips to the beach. I found my solution with Elizabeth Dehn for One Love Organics Vitamin C Body Oil ($58). The nice thing about this is that it contains facial grade ingredients incorporated into a luscious body oil. The result is a potent mix of vitamin C Ester, papaya enzymes and organic shea oil that moisturizes and brightens the skin.
For reference, I am 30 years old with oily-combination skin plus occasional dryness due to cold weather and exposure to elements. On my body, my skin is normal to dry. As I've mentioned before, I am not fond of lotions. One Love Organics Vitamin C Body Oil is easy to apply — I just pour a few drops and apply it on my body after showering while skin is still damp.
The texture of this oil is rather rich. It seems to be thicker than most body oils I know, but then again, it does provide loads of moisture for the skin without the heavy, sticky feeling. It does not feel clogging at all, unlike other lotions and oils I’ve tried that felt too slick on skin, as if it couldn't breathe. It absorbs well after a few minutes. I used this everyday for four weeks and I am very happy with the results!
I noticed the scent first. It was quite strong, but being a perfume junkie, I am attracted to natural aromas. The lavender, tea tree and citrus extracts have a wonderfully calming and soothing effect on my senses. It has a sweet tropical scent that lingers lightly after applied — it may be an issue with those who apply perfumes. I personally like to mix it in with my fruity-floral scents so it doesn't clash with my fragrance.
The result? My skin was more even-toned, supple, and very smooth. My tan lines faded and my skin just glows! The vitamin C ester seems to penetrate more with this one, and I love its antioxidant properties. Papain, on the other hand, is a popular ingredient for whitening/brightening. It did not make me fairer but it did make my skin tone more even. This is a great body moisturizer particularly for those with dry skin and/or those who like antioxidant and brightening properties.
