Matrixyl and Matrixyl 3000 are peptides with a research pedigree and strong anecdotal evidence to testify to their effectiveness as amongst the best anti-aging actives available to us. Scientists have found these powerful peptides to double collagen. The Matrixyl family also has a new addition, Synthe’6, which is supposed to stimulate six major constituents of the skin matrix and the dermal-epidermal junction. The last Five Best with Matrixyl was 2014 and since then things have definitely moved on. Here’s the 2016 Five Best with heavy-hitting Matrixyl (and 3000 and Synth’6)

  • ExPürtise Effective Anti-Aging Face Serum

ExPürtise Effective Anti-Aging Face Serum ($120 in the shop). This is one of the few serums that formulates with both Matrixyl 3000 and Matrixyl Synthe’6. Plus there’s an epidermal growth factor, apple stem cells and a slew of organic botanical extracts. Effective by name and in action, this serum by the newish brand, ExPürtise, helps with lines and plumping. Our tester, Gina, was impressed enough to compare it to Botox (the injectable won, but at least this serum stood up to the challenge). The potent Matrixyl combo is also in the ExPürtise eye serum.

  • ASDM Beverly Hills Matrixyl 3000 Serum

ASDM Beverly Hills Matrixyl 3000 Serum ($35 in the shop). This is a brand new find for me and earns its place in the Five Best for being a budget buy that punches above its price point. The wonderfully simple but potent serum has four ingredients: two actives, Matrixyl 3000 and hyaluronic acid, and two natural preservatives. It is an elegant testament to ASDM Beverly Hill’s mission that “fuses science and nature.” ASDM also gives a shout-out to the hyaluronic acid, claiming their formulation has low molecular weight (for better penetration) and is made from glucose, soy peptone and yeast extract.

  • Benir Beauty BV-9 Platinum Provectus Super Serum

Benir Beauty BV-9 Platinum Provectus Super Serum ($195 in the shop). I recently put this serum back on my radar and I am so glad that I did since it proved tremendous. I felt as if my crow’s feet needed some extra attention and had a hunch that Benir’s serum might help. In just two weeks it made an impressive impact. Packed with peptides, there’s Matrixyl 3000, Syn-Ake, Pentapeptide-18 and Acetyl Hexapeptide-8.

  • Your Best Face Correct

Your Best Face Correct ($150 in the shop). This eye cream strives to do it all with Matrixyl synthe'6, Matrixyl 3000 and other age-defying peptides, including Uplevity and Eyeseryl, plus Tego Pep 4-17 and Renovage to smooth fine lines and wrinkles, lift sagging lids, relieve puffy skin, and erase dark circles. Botanical extracts include aspen bark and cupuacu butter. An eye cream that’s a game changer.

  • Rejuvel 3D Microgravity Cell Renewal Cream

Rejuvel 3D Microgravity Cell Renewal Cream ($149 in the shop) has three key actives: Matrixyl 3000, sodium hyaluronate and green tea stem cell cultures. The science that went in to Matrixyl 3000 is more than matched by Rejuvel’s NASA-developed technique allowing 3-dimensional cells to be cultivated with reduced stress, allowing them to be stronger and more effective. The result is happier, more potent green tea stem cells to make extracts from.
