I sooo want to try YBF's Boost and Antioxidants! If I like it, the brand will spread like wildfire since each time I like a product thats all I talk about! It happened with Peter Thomas Roth's Laser Free Serum, Atralin andDr. Denese's Firming Glycolic Pads!!!
Hi Susan,
That was kind of you & thank you.
We will continue to keep an eye out for ingredient alternatives and pursue them when we think we've found one that's proven safer and is widely accepted as a safe alternative.
Prop's role in Antioxidants is to make ferulic acid soluble so that it works in the formula, but if we find a better alternative we'll indeed look into a switch.
Thank you again and all my best,
Darrell
Hi Darrell,
First off, I'd like to retract the word "misstepped" and apologize for using it. YBF did no such thing.
I stand behind my view of propylene glycol, due to studies and lack of them and toxicology reports, etc. It is widely used, I know. It is economic. It is an effective carrier (though the manner in which it changes skin for penetration I would like to know).
Almost every toiletry article contains it. One must be particularly deliberate for it to be absent from a bathroom (or kitchen).
YBF continues to be a superior product. I never meant to infer otherwise, and again, I apologize for evidently giving such an impression.
YBF's Correct is the BEST eye cream on the market, hands down. Period.
Don't be sad, Darrell. You have no reason to be.
Darrell, I can't speak on the Refresh product, but your Antioxidants is amazing! I understand that not every product will produce the same or even similar results for everyone, but for those of us who are the recipients of it, you've got a friend in me indeed! I'm on a really tight budget and so hopefully will be able to tryout your Refresh and a few of the other products, but as for now, the YBF Antioxidants is the best!!! I thank you and all those involved, on behalf of this 57 year old brown eyed "beauty", cuz that's what this is all about after all, THANK YOU!!!!!
Hi Susan,
It makes me very sad to read your comment.
It makes me sad, not because propylene glycol is a actually a safe ingredient for use in skincare (sometimes mistaken for a form of glycol used in antifreeze), but because we've actually used in our product line from the beginning -- going back to 2004.
Propylene glycol was not a new ingredient to the line as part of the new product offerings.
So, I don't quite understand your comment about a misstep. Yes, we have indeed broadened our selection of products -- and done so not only to bring new solutions but also at more affordable price points.
Ingredients we have introduced to our line as part of the new and more affordable priced products include carnosine, bisabolol, tumeric extract, resveratrol, ferulic acid, olive squalane, tetradecylthioacietic acid -- and the list goes on -- these are all great ingredients which are new to our line. Where is the misstep Susan? Please help me see.
Sincerely,
Darrell Owens

Airless pumps are great because they keep your products fresher longer; but they can sometimes be tricky to work with! Here, Marta offers a few tips on how to get the most out of airless pumps.

Ivehad this for a long timebut rarely used it because the consistantsy is too thick to really fit in my everyday skincare routine. Its as thick as a moisturizer but doesnt moisturze. However, I recently ran out of my serum and all I had was this. I noticed a beautiful glow..a different type of glow too. I like the glow thatbee venom or glycolic acid gives to my skin but this was a different type of glow ! My nose and skin love it. Age 34 combo tanned skin

I like and regularly use so many YBF products (six currently - Boost, Vit C, Hydrate B, Prep, Quench, Correct) that I was pretty taken aback when my skin reacted negatively to the Antioxidants Concentrate. I was so in disbelief that I stopped, let my skin rest for a few weeks and tried again. With the same results - twice. So I had to regretfully accept this product isnt for me.
My skin tends to "sting" slightly when I first apply it, and feels a little itchy. After a few days, little bumps started appearing, which go away once I stop using the serum. Seeing that my face couldn't take it, I tried using up the remainder on my neck and decollete, and after a few weeks bumps or rough patches appear there too! I guess there must be some ingredient that I am just not suited to.

I've been trying a sample of this product and find that it causes immediate stinging. I have mild rosacea and don't want to risk leaving the product on my skin to find out how long the stinging last. I just think it's not a good choice for me. I'm in my 60s.

Is this ok to use around the delicate eye area?? Anyone used this around the eyes without any issues?

I really like YBF Antioxidants concentrate. My face feels smooth and plump and I look refreshed after using it. I also like knowing that long term I should see results from an antioxidant cream.

Hi Penny,
I just wanted to clear up any confusion resulting from your comment on Jan 15, 2014 about propylene glycol. The product listed here does not contain propylene glycol.
While I personally have not read anything convincing that it would be dangerous to skin when used appropriately, this product, Antioxidants Concentrate, does not contain prop glycol and has not in the formula for several years now.
Ingredients in Antioxidants Concentrate are:
reverse osmosis water, olivem (cetearyl olivate, sorbitan olivate), ethoxydiglycol, ferulic acid, macadamia nut oil, Leucidal (leuconostoc/radish root ferment filtrate), ethylhexyl palmitate, spin trap (phenyl butyl nitrone), lipochroman-6 (dimethylmethoxy chromanol), meadowfoam seed oil, trans resveratrol, glutathione
Thank you,
Darrell from Your Best Face Skincare

Sorry.
Propylene glycol may have the FDA's stamp of approval, but that means NOTHING. The FDA does not screen products for your safety!!
They only screen products for profit and 'effectiveness' in the stated of said products.
Propylene glycol should not be in a product which is used on your skin.
Remember ~ your skin is your largest living organ.
Slathering it with chemicals is a negative thing, regardless of what the FDA promotes or claims.

I used the sample in my 'Discover with Marta' approximately 5 times, and although it was too little to see results, I will write a review based on my experience using this product. I tend to like products where one can see and experience fast results and I liked the immediate feel of this product. The light tingling made me think it was actually doing something. I also like the interesting, natural fragrance. The tiny sample contained too little product to see results, but my sensitive skin did not have any reaction and I just might purchase this product in the future to see if it performs.

I honestly can’t say one bad thing about this product. Although, no major skin change occurred, I am proud to say that my skin looks unusually clear and I see less dark spots and/or other signs of sun damage. The concentrate was nice and creamy, and spread easily with no tacky or oily feeling. It has a lovely light clean scent that dissipates quickly. I also found that it worked well under my makeup; my makeup went on smoothly, with just the right amount of hydration. This cream caused my skin no irritation at all, which is not always the case for me with many other skincare products. Overall, I would love to buy this again when I run out.

I wanted to love this, and for the first few days I did, but then strange heat rash bumps covered my face. I have always had very smooth skin, so I was in shock. I had to stop using this product. It took another four days before my skin returned to normal. I am clearly allergic to one or more of the ingredients in this serum.

The YBF Antioxidants Concentrate reformulated cream is a Supa-Stah! I have skin that now requires a lot of moisture to keep it plump and smooth-looking and no matter what products I use I’m reminded once again how essential YBF’s Antioxidants Concentrate formula is. When added to face cream moisturizers, eye creams, hand creams and body creams it acts as an undercover agent that works for you 24/7 helping to replenish what has been lost. I first tried YBF Antioxidants Concentrate back in 2011 and really liked it, but this new reformulated one is even better than I imagined. I’ve upgraded my daily regimen by adding it to my usual moisturizers and serums. I even used it alone with great results – it hasn’t let me down once. Antioxidants Concentrate is going to remain a staple in my skincare regimen as I head into the next decade (my 60s) and beyond.

For me, it is usually a challenge to find a serum that is formulated with so many active and proven antioxidants and works effectively yet doesn’t cost over $100. At $55 for 1 ounce, this serum delivers great results and mixes well with other products – without the wallet-emptying price. I sometimes use the Antioxidants Concentrates serum on its own underneath my moisturizer, etc., but more often I do mix it with other bio-peptide, nourishing and lifting serums. The airless pump is a great delivery system and so far the pump has worked as it should, without clogging. The consistency is silky and light; never tacky, waxy or clumpy. In four weeks’ time after using the Your Best Face Antioxidants Concentrate serum, my skin feels softer and smoother and looks better with or without makeup. I am sure that I will see even better results in the days to come and after I have used up the entire product.

I use this together with YBF Boost, I know that antioxidants are great for the skin so probably there's a long term effect if I keep on using this on a daily basis. But it's lightweight and easily absorbed, plus they perform remarkably well on my skin (no irritations, less breakouts, clearer skin), so I'll purchase this again.

I must say the product is "outstanding!"
My skin is becoming more even toned and the texture more refined and defined. Small lines and wrinkles around the eye and nasal labial folds have softened. Since my skin is dry, I found I needed to put a light moisturizer over the product. If you have normal or combination/oily skin, I believe you would be fine in using the product alone in the evening or under a sunscreen during the day. I would definitely buy this product. My skin began to improve in just over 3 1/2 weeks, I can only imagine the effects after 6-8 weeks.

I used this product for about 2 months, beginning in mid November and used it on only 1/2 of my face so I would have a point of comparison. I first noted a very nice, almost spicy/earthy smell to this formula which seemed very nice. Upon application, it absorbed quickly into my skin. I layered it along with a vitamin C product and glycolic acid product as well as moisturizer and did this in the mornings only. During the two months I used this, I kept looking for some changes in my skin on the side where the YBF product was applied. However, even to this date, I still cannot see much – maybe a fine line smoothened. But, still not that much of a difference. It may well be that for the product to have its maximum effect, the period of use must be for 6 months or longer, which would give the skin cells at the upper most surfaces of the skin sufficient time to regenerate and for the human eye to see some more visible effects from the product.

The YBF Concentrate gives you carte blanche to add it to any favorite skin care product to increase its effectiveness. I decided to use it during the day, mixing a small amount with a little Dermophisiologique Optyma Eye Cream ($85 in the TIA shop) and used it daily on upper and under lower lids. Then I mixed a little with Arcona Magic White Ice for a daily moisturizer. Having used both the eye cream and moisturizer previously, I can say that the Concentrate did help to ‘up’ the performance of both – they just seemed to perform better.

It has a wonderful almond scent that is not overwhelming but just slight enough to make it a pleasant scent. When applied, the product took about 2 pumps to generously spread across my entire face and it went on very easily. By itself it can feel drying – however, I saw that as a benefit as this is probably the reason this product plays so well with others and is easily added to or mixed with anything I tried it with.
The pumps allow for every last drop of the product to be dispensed.
It played well with everything I tried it with, whether it was a night cream, a day cream, sunscreen or by itself in use with the Baby Quasar LED Light Therapy.
After finishing the entire bottle I saw a small difference in my skin. It looked a little bit more youthful, refreshed, and even toned. I would not say that this was as drastic of a difference as I expected, but I hope the antioxidant protection was doing its job even if I couldn’t see it.

When applied directly, it feels very nice on the skin. It absorbs quickly, has no residue, and I do see a fresher and clearer look to my skin since I started use. The card that came with the product suggested blending it with other products or adding it to do-it-yourself recipes. This is an excellent way of extending the product as well as ensuring it gets applied to the entire face and neck. With one pump, I can get it to all parts of my face, but, because of its light texture, I need two pumps to include my neck. This option of mixing it with other products does help “spread it around”, so to speak. Antioxidants Concentrate has a wonderful almond scent, very subtle, which is a nice pick-me-up in the morning.

When I began using the Concentrate Antioxidants I was a little leery about how my skin would react as far as breakouts were concerned. I began by applying the Antioxidant after my moisturizer and didn’t notice much of an improvement but tried blending the two as the enclosed card suggested. The Antioxidant was easy to combine and went on smoothly and felt very light on my skin, absorbing very well with no trace of residue or oily feeling on my skin. A couple of days after the first few applications of blending, my skin had a definite dewy look. With continued use my complexion became fresher and brighter looking. I am very impressed with my appearance and would highly recommend this product.

Hi Stephanie
This is the new version. It is slightly thicker (less runny) than the original. Thank you for asking - your question prompted me to clarify this in the product description above.

The type of propylene glycol used in skin care is often times confused with other forms of glycols (such as b-propylene glycol and etheylene glycol), which are not to be used in skin care.
The type of propylene glycol in the product serves a role and is considered by the FDA and many in the cosmetic industry to be safe.

Just a curious question - why would propylene glycol be included in anything you put on your face - from my understanding it is antifreeze and should be avoided in any skincare product
