Reviewed for at least 30 days and recommended by Ana: I’ve been using the Dr. Dennis Gross Ferulic Acid + Retinol Brightening Solution for the last month. I’m a crazy Zumba instructor in my early forties with combination skin prone to breakouts. I have always been looking and testing new products for my skin since I was 20. Most of the time results are good or average but this time I think I found something awesome!
I used the product day and night first thing, including a little around the eyes, careful to avoid my eyelids. While some products don’t work well together, I added this one to my skin care routine and it immediately boosted it.
Research says ferulic acid is a great antioxidant and works especially well with vitamin C (something I already use in my regimen), improving its effectiveness as well as the strength of other antioxidants. Paired with exfoliator retinol, which promotes cell turnover, this treatment works to even out skin tone and lighten dark spots.
At the time I received the DDG Brightening Solution I was using Medik8 Growth Factor, which works great, but I added this product and it improved my results. On top of that I use a Probiotic + C Renewal Cream & Luminous Eye Serum from Andalou Naturals, all this is working outstanding for my skin. I’m also happy to report no breakouts at all.
One of my best friends is a skin care junkie like me and I see her every two weeks. I had only been using this product for one week and she immediately said to me, “Whatever your using now, it’s wonderful…I want it, tell me everything.” Another friend I hadn’t seen in a long time asked me, “Are you already 40? Because you definitely look 32.” So, I can tell you friends, it works.
This product claims to:
1. Repairs Signs of Aging Skin & Sun Damage
I would definitely say yes, it smoothes away light wrinkles.
2. Fades Dark Spots.
It is working for sure on fading some dark spots I got from a tanning session (something that should never, ever happen again), and I would say in this case I need to use the product for two more months to see the very noticeable results, however, the way it’s been working I believe I’ll keep seeing results.
3. Minimizes Appearance of Pores
Yes it does!
It also evens your skin, give you a glow and honestly it’s the first thing I use, not even a toner, after cleansing. I would say if you’re looking for something that will give a you a glow, even your skin tone and boost your current skin care routine, this is must. I would give it a 10, for sure.

This is the kind of product that's right up my alley. I use retinol and various acids on a daily basis to keep my skin tone even and to eliminate scarring from hormonal breakouts.
Shalini,
I too was curious regarding your query & contacted DG Skincare to see if they might give it up. However, the company does not disclose the exact % of retinol in the product as it is a proprietary blend. I had informally asked the same question when the AHA peel pads were first launched and was given the same answer - it's a proprietary blend of acids that work synergistically to provide maximum results for at-home use.
Whatever, the retinol % used, I found it to be so well buffered that I never experienced peeling or irritation, even with nightly use - no adjustment period required. Moreover, it is meant to be a multi-tasker, although retinol is a key player. I still think it's an excellent starter retinol prouct and I will be using it for maintenance during Rx retinoid off-cycles.
Unfortunately that's all the info I have on it
Hi. Does the product or their website mention what percentage of retinol is used in this formulation?
Thanks!
Hi could we buy this through TIA? Also could someone please review Apot.care range? I tried the moisturiser-sample size and so so impressed its based on opthalmic science apparently. But quite expensive. I just wondered if any one else has tried it. Sorry not sure where to put this post!

I used Dr. Gross’ Alpha Beta pads for quite a number of years, both the face and the body pads, and I was impressed with the results. So I was excited to try Dr. Dennis Gross Ferulic Acid + Retinol Brightening Solution.
I am a Caucasian woman with red hair and freckles. I have fairly normal skin — not overly sensitive, but a little oily in the T-zone. I am now in my early 50s and having issues with my freckles. I really don’t mind them, but some of them have become darker and more noticeable as I’ve aged. The freckles under my eyes look like my mascara has smeared. There are freckles that have grown into “patches” on the left and right sides of my face, near my ears, and on my forehead. Freckles around my lips accentuate any lip lines I’m developing. And mark-free skin is always younger — and healthier — looking.
I’m not fooling myself into thinking a non-prescription topical can work that aggressively to lighten my freckles — I’m sure I’d have to invest in some peel for that. But I do like how my skin looks more even, and I like how my skin feels — smoother and softer. The pores look smaller, the skin looks more refined. And I’ve received compliments on my skin while using this.

I like this product. I have used other Retin-A products in the past that were irritating. I have not had any irritation with this product. I wish it was a thicker consistent as I feel like some product is wasted when I apply it.

The Ferulic + Retinol Serum lived up to its reputation. It comes in a simple dark glass bottle, with a dropper for application. It’s thin and just very slightly oily, and absorbs quickly and completely, with no residue; I used the serum every evening and most mornings as well.
