TIA Review by Marta:
Towards the end of last year, Francine Porter of Osmotics sent me a brand new product ahead of its actual launch (this month), Micro Peel Skin Resurfacing System. I have been using it ever since and it is terrific. It says on the box that it visibly reduces fine lines and wrinkles - and it does.

I have to admit that when I first approached it, I was trepidatious. My sensitive skin flushes at the very word “peel. ” And three-part kits portend hard work. But my fears were unfounded. Micro Peel Skin Resurfacing System is gentle enough for me to use it every day and it’s easy and enjoyable to use.

The three steps start with the Exfoliating Charcoal Mask. This black gel has a pleasant fruity smell that reminds me of blackberries. Charcoal is cleansing, helps to remove toxins and can desensitize irritated skin. Also helpful for unhappy, inflamed or chapped skin is white oak bark (Quercus Alba). It is rounded out by plenty of herbal extracts, including thyme and mint.

The charcoal mask is rinsed off after a few minutes and the next step is to apply the Collagen Boosting Micro Peel. Although the main point here are the exfoliating AHAs, I was extremely intrigued by some of the extracts. Spondias mombin pulp extract is new to me, although I have now discovered that it is a staple of Murad products. Back in the day, it was used to treat leprosy and is rich in potassium and calcium. Impressive is plantain, which studies show has an antioxidant effect four times stronger than vitamin C. There’s also mango, an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant, as well as cactus pear.

After giving the Micro Peel a few moments to absorb, the final step is to layer on the Protective Barrier Cream. This has another unusual botanical, mad dog weed, or European water plantain, which has been shown to inhibit allergic reactions.

Some of you will have noticed that my roll-call of ingredients is selective and I haven’t mentioned that there’s the odd filler in the form of wax, thickening agents or silicone. And there’s the preservative phenoxyethanol. Well, Osmotics never formulates for purists, but it does aim for efficacy. With Micro Peel Skin Resurfacing System, it has achieved that. It’s making great inroads on my lip lines. The idea is to use the kit for four weeks and then every three months. I will certainly be going back to it.

I tried this for the first time and it was very effective. It made a difference in the brightness and tightening of my face. I will use this once every 2 months or as needed. I will reorder.

I have been using this system for the past three weeks and the results are noticeable. My skin is glowing and smooth. The old acne scars on the side of my face are less noticeable. The charcoal mask is gentle and refreshing. One pump of the serum is absorbed immediately. the barrier cream was a nice finishing touch. This will be a great addition to my regular routine.

Hi Eileen, Osmotics got back to me and say that the recommended use is at change of season (or four times per year). However, you can use it more often if you like - as much as every other month should be fine.

    Hi Eileen
That's a great question. I'll ask the nice people at Osmotics and get back to you.

Hi Marta, I just completed 6 weeks of use of the Osmotics Micro Peel and Wow! I rarely can ever say that about any products, but with this one, the results are apparent in the first week. The pesky line on my forehead is significantly smoother and the texture of my skin is noticeably improved. I have overall redness (I think due to some broken capillaries) and the Micro Peel seemed to improve that problem too. I am very impressed with this trio. I'm just wondering how often one can use the process (i.e, 3 or 4 times per year)?

I used this product for the recommended month recently and loved what it did for my skin. I'm with Hazel in that I loved loved loved the Charcoal Mask and the Collagen Booster Micro Peel but was less enamoured of the Barrier Cream (hence the 4 instead of 5 star rating). The barrier cream seemed to sit on my skin and clogged the pores on my nose. I don't think I used too much as it was the only container that had anything left in at at the end of the month. I'm just wondering if there is anything one could use as a substitute?

I used this system every night for the first week until I noticed a slight redness on my cheeks. My skin didn’t feel raw, so I continued to use the product every other night going forward. The redness cleared up and I noticed that my skin actually felt smoother in the morning! By the fourth week, I noticed that the little stubborn breakouts on the side of my face had dried up; my skin was renewed and clearer. I still have visible pores but my face is smoother and I hardly wear foundation/BB cream now, just my regular sunblock. My favorite products in the system would have to be the Exfoliating Charcoal Mask and the Collagen Booster Micro Peel. I like the mask because it deep cleanses my skin and the cooling effect is absolutely refreshing to use. I like the peel simply because it works; the exfoliating AHAs, green tea and vitamin C really do their job. Osmotics certainly boosted my skincare regimen and fulfilled all the requirements I was looking for in an exfoliating system – it’s gentle, yet effective.

Hi Holly, I think you'd probably want to start with a clean face before putting any product on. Its fine to use with other products - just wait half an hour. Since you mention eye creams, I should point out that Micro Peel is not suitable for the eye area.

  • Hi Marta

I just received my Osmotics Micro Peel Resurfacing System in the post and am looking forward to trying it! Just a question (I'm always asking questions) do you need to cleanse your face first and did you use any serums or eye creams at night while using it for the recommended four week period? I'm just wondering how it would react with other products.

    Kind regards, Holly

Am tempted but put off by the waxes and silicones as I have extremely acne-prone skin. Can anyone shed some light on this issue as it pertains to this product? Thanks.

I would love to try a product that would show results on a short term trial. Some products I feel require more than a 30 day trial, however with masks you should be able to determine their results immediately. Thank you for the opportunity! I have oily skin with an unpleasant and unflattering shinny outcome. I would look forward to reducing this shine which a good mask should do!

I can't wait to try this system! I love peels, but have to be careful, and I've had good experiences with several products that Marta has reviewed.

I have really enjoyed their skin illuminizer and would love to try more of their line. I currently use Juice beauty's apple peel but would like to explore other options :)
