Skincare has really been exciting me lately. With the help of TIA I have discovered some truly amazing lines, from the stunning organic handcrafted almost medicinal lines (Laurel Whole Plant Organics, Mukti), to the downright miraculous (MitoQ). This however, makes me much harder to win over when reviewing new products.
I was recently sent a beautiful green bottle of Kat Burki Rose Hip Intense Recovery Eye Serum to review. I have been using it for several weeks. And while there is absolutely nothing wrong with this product, I must say, it really didn’t move me. (Since when am I “moved” by skin care products!).
The formulation is actually quite thoughtful and right up my alley. It starts off with the signature Kat Burki cocktail of wonderful herbs that’s called the KB5 (arnica, gotu kola, lavender, calendula and chamomile), which is followed up with great naturals - aloe, rose hip seed oil - and then some more traditional and effective anti-agers, vitamin C, B3, retinol and amino-acids. It’s a thin white lotion, somewhere in-between a lotion and a serum.
This nice light consistency moisturizes and absorbs just as you would like it. The fragrance is pretty unobtrusive, but I personally didn’t like it. And while I didn’t have a single adverse reaction (no bumps, no irritation, no “pilling”), I also didn’t see any marked results. With all that’s out there, I’ve become very results oriented. And at $125.00 price point, I have really high expectations.
Now as we all know, skincare is so personal. One person’s dream product is another person’s dud. I see hope for this otherwise lovely eye serum finding a home in someone else’s medicine cabinet, but unfortunately for me, I must send it on its way.
