It is important to note that this product is to be used only at night and you must wear a sunscreen during the day, as your skin's sensitivity to light will be increased.
Although the directions are to apply before bed to a cleansed face 1-3 times per week (or as tolerated), I wanted to be sure to very gradually begin use, so I allowed five days between the first two applications then four days before the next application and then three days for subsequent applications. Everyone's skin is different, but for the best results build up slowly.
I only used it on one side of my face and it really did work well for me. I didn't experience any redness, irritation or flaking (as I did initially with a retin-A prescribed by my doctor, even with cautious use). I do attribute that to gradual use, and most likely the improvement in the delivery system of this product.
It left my skin smooth and even toned. Interestingly, instead of drying my skin out, it actually hydrated it thanks to several moisturizing ingredients such as shea butter, almond oil, beta-glucan(D), and ceramide-2.
I didn't have to use this very long to see results - after seven weeks I saw an improvement and since this helps with cell turnover, I think using this product will not only improve skin appearance, but also probably enhance absorption of other products.

I can only contribute my two cents re-the use and feel of this product over a very short period, cause I received a sample in the beauty box from Marta's (a yearly subscription) but this product struck me as special. FYI, my skin is used to both retin-A and several (actually, many!) Retinol products but this one ....... it felt special, even after one use I saw results, amazing! especially cause hardly ever, over my now 45 years of steady use and search for effective skin care (me, tried every brand round the globe, fell for every 'innovation' yes, I know, not only sounds this stupid, it actually is stupid but, my skin is important for me). Back to the sample I received, I found it a great pity that the sample was sooo tiny. Besides that, the cream smelled funny, unpleasantly so. Further more, I do not prefer silicones in products, these give me the idea of pretense, rather than being effective. Having said all this, imagine my suprise after just 2 applications: the fine lines from my nose to mouth, diminished.
hopefully their will be in the upcoming beauty box another sample of this product (please, can that be somewhat more substantial, more than the tiny tiny sample I received?!) so that I can decide whether this product really delivers, in time, as great as I hope ....... -
I love this retinol cream. I'm reviewing it today because my container is empty as of last night and I'm ordering more from Truth in Aging at once. I've been using it for over 3 months and although I started out using it every other day the first week, I quickly began using it every night since my sensitive skin had no reactions. I exfoliate my skin weekly though, so maybe it's toughened up a bit but I have had reactions with a few other retinols sold on this site, just not this one. I love the consistency of this one and I swear my skin looks better just 3 1/2 months later after using this consistently.

I just finished reading your two reviews on Skinfinite's Platinum PM Cream 1% Retinol product. As one of the developers of the Skinfinite line of cosmeceuticals, I wanted to respond to your comments and concerns expressed in your review.
Mary and Betty you each stated that you did not follow the directions for use and, instead, applied Skinfinite's Platinum PM Cream 1% Retinol every day. By the fourth day , Mary stated that her skin was "very irritated."
It is important to note that the the 1% retinol in Skinfinite's Platinum PM Cream is entrapped in a microsponge delivery system that protects the activity of the retinol and also enhances its time-released penetration, making this a very active night cream. The Skinfinite Platinum PM Cream 1% Retinol is a true "cosmeceutical" and directions must be followed closely. If you have ever used Retin-A, the recommendations for use are similar. You must begin by using the cream every other night and gauge your sensitivity. Reducing frequency of use if irritation develops (1-3 times a week as tolerated).
Skinfinite's Platinum PM Cream 1% Retinol delivers results comparable to Retin-A but is much less expensive and can be obtained without a prescription, but directions must be followed.
Eventually, your skin will become acclimated and you will experience the ultimate benefits of retinol: reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, over-all skin brightening, minimization of hyper-pigmentation and reduction of acneic skin conditions.
In addition, Mary had some concerns regarding the inclusion of both silicones and carbomer in the formula.
Silicones are both safe and effective as a moisturizers and anti-aging ingredients. They impart a silky feel, act as a film-former to reduce moisture loss and "fill in" fine lines to minimize their appearance.
Carbomers are both safe and effective thickening agents and help to distribute and suspend solids into liquid to prevent the oil and liquid parts of a solution from separating. They also have the ability to absorb and retain water and can swell up to 1000 time their original volume when dispersed in a formula.
I would appreciate if both reviewers would wait until any/all sensitivity is gone and try the product again following the directions. I too was sent this new cream to test and like the reviewer, my skin did not react in a kind way. I was using it every night as I usually do with my Peter Thomas Roth retinol serum. Of course I only used the cream not the two combined. After about 6 nights of using this cream, my undereye area and my neck were greatly inflamed and sore. I stopped the cream for another week and applied pur aloe to heal my skin. I then tried the cream again, using it 3 nights in a row-but with the same results. Something in the formulation is too much for my skin. I will drop back to using it 3 times a week and see if it is any better. I really wanted to like this cream- but my skin does not. In all fairness perhaps if I had only used it 3 times a week from the beginning I would have had a better outcome.

I really liked this product and I thought I had sensitive, rosacea prone skin, but unlike several other reviewers, I had no adverse reaction to it. I would still use it but than I discovered Prana's Reverse A and love the texture and smell even better.

I have tried many retinol products and this is the only one that I see results with. I read the reviews and I have to wonder on some of them...do people understand what retinol is for and what it does? If you don't get some kind of peeling then the product is probably worthless. This one is definitely worth trying.

I tried the cream three times now and it is much too strong for my skin. After a single application, my skin becomes very red and then flakes and peals for about a week. The same thing has happened each of the three times that I tried the cream even though the uses were separated by about 10 days. I think there is potential here for permanent damage and I will throw the jar away. I wonder if negative comments are not being posted on this site.

I really like this product. It's funny how "smell" is so personal and subjective because I actually like the fresh smell of this a lot while others consider it a negative. Putting aside that aspect, I think Skinfinite is an excellent retinol product. I've used other liquid type retinol products, and I like that this is a cream - I can control the application and amount much more easily. One pump is plenty. As directed, I use it only at night and have had no problems with sensitivity, redness, or peeling. Currently, I only use it about 3 times a week, but after reading other reviews, I think I may increase that!

I can't say enough about how much I love this product. I apply about three times a week. After about a week or two my skin started to exfoliated and my complexion was noticeable improved. I only use one pump which is enough to cover my face and I like the way it feels as it goes on (more like a moisturizer). If you are looking for a retinol product this would be the one!

I've used this product for 2 years now and always loved the result, but the last container that i got smelled different and is so much stronger. My skin feels dry and peals off. I used to use it every other night, now i can barely use it one a week. What has happened? Did they change the formula?

I liked how moisturising this cream was, probably because of the ceramides but I personally didn't get the retinol 'glow' that I've had with other retinol products (some with lower concentrations). However, I think this could be great for those with dry, sensitive skins who are looking to incorporate retinol into their regime, I used this every night until my sample pot was gone (a couple of weeks) but didn't notice any major difference.

So I've been using this product for about 5 months now and the one thing I greatly appreciate about this product is the fact that it last a long time. Personally I use it each night because my skin can handle it. I've had no issues with the product drying my skin out in anyway....but then again that may be because I have oily skin.
In regards to its effectiveness, I have not really seen a major difference in my complexion but I still believe it is helping out in the exfoliation of my skin; which is good, because exfoliation helps other serums work better so I will continue to use it.
It's texture is pretty thick pale yellow but it rubs in very easily, so no issues there and though its scent is not all that appealing, it really isn't a problem in my opinion.
Overall I would reuse this product and I do recommend it.

I've only been using this for a few weeks but it is the first product I've ever used with retinol that truly does make my skin feel moisturized. I haven't noticed a reduction in any fine lines or wrinkles yet, but do love that it doesn't dry out my skin. I started out only using it a few nights a week but quickly found I could use it more often and am looking forward to seeing if this has an effect on my fine lines with longer and more regular use.

I think I am hooked for life! I am in my 50's and I am always searching for the ultimate retinol product. I finally have found it. I love the fact that my face never feels dried out and I have not had any reactions to this product. There is a huge difference in this product as compared to others on the market. I am thinking it must be in the microsponge delivery system that make it so special.

Hands down the best retinol product I have ever used, and I've tried many! My previous favorite was Green Cream Level 9, which gave me great results, but honestly, this is better. Much less irritation, my skin does not seem as fragile, and the peeling is more subtle -- I don't get flaky anymore.
My skin is rosacea-prone and this product causes me no trouble whatsoever -- in fact it actually seems to help. I am currently using it every other night, alternating with E'Shee Vitamin C serum, and am very happy with my results. It's a keeper.

I am 59yrs old and I have read alot about retinols and decided to give this one a try. WOW! My skin already looks brighter and it is only two weeks. I know some people are sensitive to retinol but this is not bothering me at all and I am using it three times a week before bed. I give this product 5 stars *****

I have sensitive skin and had a problem with AHA's and retinol products in the past. When I first started using Platinum PM I was cautious and used only every two nights After a few weeks I incteased the cream to every other night. Now I use it every night and my skin isso much smoother and looks much healthier. I love this product and am so happy I finally have a great retinol product that does an amazing job.

Suzanne, I could not agree more! This night cream is amazing! I have tried many other night creams but this is truly the most effective. I see a huge difference in the lines on my face and I just look overall brighter. I could not be happier and I would recommend to everyone too!

I have been using the Platinum PM Cream for over 5 months now and the results are fantastic! Within 2 weeks of using the product, i started noticing reduced pigmentation and discoloration. After 5 months, I've noticed a significant reduction in the scar on my forehead, almost all of the discoloration on my face has disappeared. I plan on using this cream forever! It truly is worth it's weight in gold.
