Directions:
Dip a kabuki brush into the loose mineral jar and collect a “silver dollar” amount of powder. Tap off excess back into jar. Work powder into brush by swirling it in makeup cap, allowing the product to settle into brush – you should not see excess product “sitting” on brush bristles. Use downward strokes to apply powder, moving from the outside of the face inward. Repeat this process to achieve desired coverage level.
TIA Review by Emily:
TIA introduced me to an amazing, new-to-me, cosmetics brand and product, W3LL PEOPLE Altruist Mineral Foundation #13. W3LL PEOPLE is a thoughtful, well-priced and appealing line – I had to love the tag line on the box, "Hippie Tested/Diva Approved."
This all-natural brand’s website says: "We understand our face absorbs 60-80% of what we put on it," to explain the company philosophy: "This mindful approach to beauty is powered by 3 core principles: Advanced Performance, Premium Natural & Organic Ingredients, and Social Responsibility."
The line is all nicely designed and contains only pure organic ingredients, and free of artificial preservatives, chemicals, parabens, silicons, petroleum, talc…a long list of nasties.
The Altruist Satin Mineral Foundation is a powder foundation that is available in eight shades; mine, # 13 (light neutral), a not very pigmented beige, was a good match for my rather pale face. It’s housed in a simple plastic pot; there’s a perforated cover so you can shake some powder to the top and just dip your brush in to take the amount you want to apply.
As promised, the foundation is lightweight and satiny; I found it easy to control the amount of coverage by applying it sparingly and then reapplying if and as needed. The color is not too intense or pigmented – for everyday use, it provides a nice and natural look. I also used it over a liquid foundation and found it worked well as a finishing powder. For years, I’ve used liquid foundation, and that’s what I’m used to. So I was concerned that, as powder tends to, it might be drying or unflattering, but I think it works well even for those of us well into our 50s. And clearly the ingredients, which add aloe, chamomile, and green tea to the mineral content, feel nourishing as well.
I would recommend W3LL PEOPLE Altruist Mineral Foundation for anyone looking for a lightweight, refined mineral foundation that can be layered or used alone. It’s made me curious to try the W3LL PEOPLE Narcissist Stick Foundation – whoever’s naming the W3LL PEOPLE line has a way with words! I think might work even better for me since I’m looking for a bit more emollient coverage in the drier winter weather.

Great powder! I really use very little, applying with a kabuki brush, and it adds a nice, light coverage. As other reviewers have said, however, is that the real remarkable thing about it is how long it lasts. I never looked in the mirror at the end of the day and thought my makeup still looks good - until I used this powder. I'm also using it with the stick foundation and the multi-use stick- both of which I'm very impressed with. This brand really is doing an amazing job with its makeup.

Realistically, a fairly rich moisturizer will always be needed under any mineral makeup, but Altruist has the best stick factor I’ve encountered. So much so that it also wins the prize for coverage. In fact, the first day I tried Altruist, I overdid it slightly and felt a bit too made up — an error rarely achievable with mineral makeup. So, if you prefer light coverage, like me, use a light hand with Altruist. This also means economy, because the product will last.
Now, for the very important chalkiness factor. This is a tough one because any mineral makeup runs the risk of settling into wrinkles and making them dry and obvious — some brands more so than others. Altruist is good but not perfect in this regard, so it is best avoided under the eyes or used very lightly in that area over plenty of moisturizer. It’s still better than most mineral makeup brands, though. With a good moisturizer underneath, a very fetching ‘glow’ is easily achieved.

W3LL's Mineral Foundation is one of the best powder foundations I have used to date! Product covers well, without skin feeling over done-just right, did NOT leave a masked look to my skin when working out, color was very forgiving, shared this with my teen aged daughter without any breakouts or negative reaction.

I love that W3LL People Altruist Satin Mineral Foundation leaves my skin feeling super soft. It provides long-lasting coverage and balances my complexion. I love that it’s so lightweight I can wear it all day without ever feeling greasy and that it doesn’t leave my skin feeling cake-y like most liquid foundations. I don’t think I’ve mastered applying it, though, since much powder winds up on the bathroom sink.
