Crow's Feet

Let's face it, "crow's feet" ranks way up at the top of the list of unflattering aging terminology. Unfortunately, calling them by the much more pleasant sounding "laughter lines" doesn't make these wrinkles any more welcome. Crow's feet are often the first type of wrinkles to appear, typically forming in our 30s.

Japanese scientists recently came up with a theory on eye area wrinkles. Turns out that they are due in large part to the lack of sebaceous oil. They concluded that sebaceous gland density seems to be one of the factors that prevent wrinkles from deepening. This means that moisturizing eye creams are very important.

Another important factor is muscle movement from, yes, laughing, but also squinting. This means that choosing an eye cream with neuropeptides to control expression lines is key.

Thirdly, there is the natural loss of collagen over time. Collagen can be replenished with actives, such as growth factors, that signal to cells that do just that.

So, to sum up: moisturize, control exression lines, boost collagen. I have curated eye creams that have ingredients that are packed with actives that meet this criteria.

AQ Skin Solutions Eye Serum ($99 in the shop) contains a concentrated formula of Matrixyl 3000 and human growth factors to effectively diminish crow's feet and fine lines and lighten and tighten the eye area. Argireline (acetyl hexapeptide 3, or 8) inhibit expression lines.

KERACELL 8-in-1 Eye Cream ($100 in the shop). As well as KERACELL's signature growth factor complex, 8-in-1 contains Syn-Eye. This is tripeptide-5 (and) panthenol (and) sodium hyaluronate. It is supposed to reduce fine lines and wrinkles around the eye. Plus there is the expression line reducer, Argireline.

E'shee Clinical Esthetic Alpha and Omega Gene Therapy Eye Cream ($284 in the shop) uses an advanced restoration formula with breakthrough peptides, Far Infrared Ceramic Powder and the brand's signature epidermal growth factor, FGF1. This powerful eye cream improves skin's firmness and texture, reduces fine lines and deep wrinkles, and rebuilds the extra cellular matrix. There's a special plant-derived expression line inhibitor, Myoxinol an oligopeptide taken from okra seeds that studies have shown to work on crow's feet. Probably the best eye cream I have used and it gets plenty of repeat buys from the community.

YBF Correct eye cream ($150 in the shop) with ingredients to provide and retain moisture, its powerful mix of age-defying peptides, include  Uplevity, Matrixyl synthe'6, and Eyeseryl, work to smooth fine lines and wrinkles, lift sagging lids, relieve puffy skin, and erase dark circles.

ReLuma Eye Cream ($95 in the shop) has a powerful growth factor complex and Pentapeptide-18, a new peptide that has unique mechanisms for modulating expression lines and also works synergistcally with Argireline.
